Most of the Uchihas were fodder. No sharingan leaves them quite weak.

Basically fodder, remove their dojutsu (basically the root of their skills) and they have sub par skills compared to other ninja. Although they still could learn whatever jutsu, but the Uchiha aren't even known for anything bar their eyes and fire style. It's almost like removing the dojutsu from the hyuga (probably not that worse but on the same lines).
