Would Itachi still fight for konoha, if sasuke was killed by elders after that night?

This is particular scenerio- what if elders(danzo) killed sasuke and breaking the promise itachi offered. On the massacre night, I suppose Itachi was given promise that if he help killing all the clan, sasuke will be spared. Do you think Itachi still would have protected konoha,fought for konoha while alive or summoned as edo.
I think otherwise.

It's difficult to say.

It's possible he would've opposed the Leaf if Sasuke was killed while Itachi was alive. If Sasuke was killed after Itachi's death, edo Itachi likely would continued to fight for the Leaf, given the circumstances of Sasuke's condition.

I don't think he would have. To him Sasuke is first, Konoha is second. He probably would have only killed Danzo though. If he wasn't KA'd first.

Maybe it was one of the conditions of the deal that sasuke will come to no harm or itachi made it clear with showing up after third's death that sasuke still have one protector left.
