also it seems people are looking way too much into power levels. Its clear that it isn't the biggest factor when taking the position. Kakashi is elite-jounin level without the sharingan yet he was easily considered for the position

Imagine. Naruto creating two clones, both of them running to the opponent, Naruto sits down while he gathers senjutsu. The opponent spits a giant fireball, the clone throws a FTG kunai, and the fireball disappears. The second clone throws a bunch of kunai on the floor, Sage Naruto stands up and shusins, the second clone comes in to the right.

Naruto not getting FTG is such a nerf. I see no reason for him not to learn it considering he sealed Kurama in a way he paralleled Rikudou. Each of his clones would be a Kage tier and above if they could teleport.

Well 50-55 would be too old. Don't see Minato as 3rd or Onoki, who should have chosen earlier. I would say he would choose by 45. That would make Kakashi, Gai , Obi to, Itachi, Naruto and Sasuke as eligible candidates. Naruto and Sasuke would have disadvantage due to age factor and experience

Hiruzen retired when he was at that age.
Tsunade took that job at 51 and retired few years later.
55 isn't that old, Ohnoki was 79, he was literally fossil.

Seems to me 50-55 age range is perfect for retiring.

Yeah and so did Itachi as captain of ANBU at age of 13 but Obito gets it becoz Hokage's seat is his father's property as he is Minato's student

OT: Minato would still be Hokage,

-kakashi would be jounin level but not hokage level since he would not be Kakashi of the sharingan
-obito was fodder until he awakened sharingan so he would be slightly better than Kakashi -> he was never praised to be a genius
-Rin would be a medic
-Gai would be the same
-Naruto would learn SM, rasengan, sealing techs, and ftg so he would be the 6th
-Sasuke would probably get 3t and learn everything from Itachi + chidori aka hebi sasuke

The only person who had the wisdom and strength is Itachi, so yes he would be the fifth

Hmmm. You have a point. But Kakashi is not irresponsible. I can see one scenario that Minato retires late and this happens. Although I think that there would be a Hokage between Minato and Naruto but this is a possibility
