Would Itachi be Hokage?

- If the Uchiha coup d'etat was never going to happen and Itachi continued his life living in Konoha would he have eventually become Hokage?

Okay so i've been thinking about this for a while. Im not usually a fan of "what if" questions usually but im just curious what you guys think.

It's possible, he certainly had the credentials.

It does seem, however, that their was a distrust of the Uchiha so he may not have been chosen for political reasons. Additionally, he doesn't seem like the kind to "take charge", much like Jiraiya, but for different reasons.

I personally think that the 3rd hokage's peaceful solution was to make either shisui or itachi the 5th hokage

Odds are he wouldn't be Hokage. Though Itachi has the capabilities in terms of skill to be a Kage, as others have said political reasons due to the Kyuubi inscident as well as the Senju rule since Konoha's existance, it would be very unlikely for the council to consider anybody from the Uchiha clan for Hokage. Every position for Hokage has been connected to the Senju.

The First two being of the clan itself, Hiruzen being the student of the first two. The fourth being the student of the Third Hokage's student. Fith being the grandaughter and grandniece of the first two and a direct student the third.

Uchihas just wouldn't fit into the mix.
