Would gaara have been able to pull madara out of susanoo if it weren't for this?

What exactly did lightening the sand add to gaara's power that he doesn't have on a normal basis?

Lighter sand means faster movement and more precise control over it, and I'm sure he wouldn't have to expend as much chakra to shape it.

The Susano'o was too thick to penetrate the Susano'o armor, but since it became lighter and less compacted it could go through the armor and reach Madara.

wrong the top part was a diversion and the sand beneath him was used to pull him out. susanno has no cover at the user feet. the old man made the sand lighter for more speed and less chakra for gara to use to lift it.

actually susanno has to be broken for there to be a hole small enough for sand to come threw. this is considering the user is inside susano. raw lighting could not touch itachi so why would sand seep in? fact is the only way to do it is an underground attack. if you intend to separate a uchiha from susanno.

Who wants to bet that after the war, should he live, Gaara is going to make it his business to learn that technique to lighten his sand, or create something very similar, once you go earth its hard to revert lol

the sand must have been super fast if the perceptive abilities of the sharingan were made useless

You cant perceive something you're not looking at. Gaara manipulated the sand under Madara's feet. Madara wasn't looking down. Onoki making the sand lighter ensured Gaara Madara will have little time to react. It's like when Naruto used rasengan on Madara. Onoki raised the ground beneath him. Does that mean Naruto wouldnt have landed that rasengan without Onoki? No. Onoki raising the ground ensured Madara had little time to react to the attack.

It allowed gaara to move the sand more easily and with less chakra since it wasnt as heavy.

He could have pulled madara out of his susanoo regardless becuase he used the sand at madara's feet to remove him.
