Would anyone else have preffered the Lee/Neji rivalry to Naruto/Sasuke?

Remember in chapter 616 when Lee was remembering Neji:

Would anyone else enjoy this? The whole rivalry between Naruto and Sasuke is only interesting because of strength. Other than that its just boring IMO. Lee and Neji would actually make an interesting duo and wouldn't be constantly trying to kill each other out of envy and other silly reasoning like Naruto and Sasuke do. If Kishi expanded on this relationship would you have enjoyed it? It would be great to see two Taijutsu masters going at it.

Kishi has no time for chars he created. That would have been v nice to see + could give them power ups through that route

I can understand exactly what you are saying.

The rivalry between Neji and Lee was actually a healthy rivalry, based on proving who was the greater Shinobi. It wasnt based on hatred, or anger. Both had had to prove themselves all their lives. Both were strong in Taijutsu. Both had interesting personalities. Nowdays it seems things arent based around Shinobi anymore, but rather, Superheroes trying to out-do each other with the most OP moves. Quantity over quality.

Have to say, I do miss Nejis character... the fact that he had fought to be free all his life yet retained the Noble stature and consciousness of his clan i found a respectable quality. Even the fact that he overcame his 'demons' and always looked out for his cousin Hinata. His use of the Byakugan was also exceptional. It's a shame Kishi killed him off.... I would have liked to have understood more about the Hyuuga clan, rather than the onus falling onto Hinatas shoulders.

But back tothe topic, yes i would have preferred to have seen Neji and Lees rivalry reach fruition until they became an ultimate team. Other than Naruto and Sasuke, Neji and Lee's combo could have contributed to the battles in this war.

I would prefer any day.

The panels Lee thought about Neji when he died gave me more feels than all the forced NaruSasu relationship that author was desperately trying to give with Naruto yelling "Sassskee'1!" or cheezy combined attacks.

They were atleast healthy enough to maintain a relationship and their personalities was interesting.
They wre both trying to overcome obstacles (being branch family-not able to using ninjutsu); so they can understand each other. Also their taijutsu being opposite yet complementary and whole real martial references is intriguing to make their fight interesting.

It is a shame we did not see much of them; they should atleast have a deciesive battle; they deserved it.
Maybe i am saying this both are my faves; but that been said, there is a reason why they are my faves.
