In Fairy Tail, Lucy hates her father and there are many father issue stories. In One Piece, there are father issue storys. In HunterxHunter, there are father's issue stories. But in Naruto, there haven't been a single father-hate son/vice versa story. So, what the author is currently doing is, destroying Naruto's Uniqueness and placing it in the same coat-tails as the above anime. Making the plot generic. Erasing Naruto's Tradition. Which is why they should twist it somehow and get rid of it.

Well, Naruto was never a story rooted in the modern times. It was how the people in the feudal era lived and how they survived and what kind of difficulties they faced. It never wasn't about trivial matters like parent issues. Hashirama and Madara's story showcased it well. The ability to take things upon oneself, and look at the bigger picture, for the betterment of the Shinobi-World: Itachi's story showcased it well. A being, converted by the torments of war, and transformed into a killing machine and went about bringing peace in his own way; whilst being contradictory to his own sentiments. Nagato Paīn showcased this well. I don't think this current plot has that sort of "seriousness" to them. It's just the same thing we've seen in the past in other series, but this time; they're ruining the "root" of Naruto for no reason. It's not like bringing an outside plot is "exciting" or anything like that. That's like selling a phone with the same focus on all of it's features. If the story need's to be interesting, even copying the old plots and twisting it in a way; it look's new, and selling it, would do the trick.
