Carlie yawned and sat up. She looked around the cozy cabin, but nobody seemed to be there.
Carlie: Where is everyone? They must have gotten here by now... I guess I?ll go look for them.
She found new clothes on a small table in the corner of the cabin. The cabin still seemed empty. Nobody was outside, either. Carlie was starting to freak out.
Carlie: What if someone came and killed them all? That can?t be... They?re all way too powerful! What if they forgot about me?!
A sharp voice interrupted her thoughts.
Juuri: Baka! Can?t you sense their presence? They?re obviously somewhere near here. I can?t believe I?m the other you -_-
Carlie: ... You?re that girl that tried to kill Mizu!
Juuri: No sh!t! And I would have succeeded if you didn?t try to stop me!
Carlie: But why did you try to kill him in the first place?
Juuri: -_-? Isn?t it obvious? I?m the other you. You hate killing, I love it. Your fear of death allowed me to take control over your body. If it wasn?t for me, you?d be dead now.
Carlie: B-but-
Juuri: Urusai! Find the others and maybe we can figure something out!
Carlie sighed and stepped out on the porch of the cabin. She couldn?t see anyone. She sat down and rested her chin on her knees. A faint whisper came from one of the bushes. She approached the bushes as silently as she could.
???: How did she survive that?
???: Don?t talk so loudly!
???: Did you feel her Mana? It skyrocketed!
???: How did she get her levels up so much?
???: I don?t think we should trust her!
???: Don?t be stupid!
???: Do you really think we should just leave her alone?
Carlie stepped through the bushes into the small clearing. Everyone except Chii, Shizuka, Su and Grimm sat huddled together. The whispering stopped suddenly.
Carlie: Leave who alone?
Roku: Nobody.
Train: Nobody at all.
Sakura: Yeah, what they said.
Carlie eyed the group suspiciously. Roku laughed nervously.
Roku: You healed very quickly. That means we can go catch up to all the others! You should eat something...
He handed her a bowl of soup. She sat on a log and began eating.
Shizune: Roku, you and the rest of the group should discuss... plans... about whatever you need to plan. I?ll stay here with Carlie.
Everyone shared uneasy looks.
Keotsu: Are you sure Shizune? I?m sure she?ll be fine all by herself...
Shizune: You guys worry too much! I?ll be fine.
They slowly made their way to Lawl?s cabin. Every few seconds, somebody would look back at her. Shizune sighed.
Shizune: They worry too much. Are you feeling okay?
Carlie nodded slowly. She stared down at her soup.
Carlie: They?re scared of me, aren?t they?
Shizune sighed and light touched Carlie?s shoulder. Carlie moved away from her hand.
Carlie: Tell me the truth!
Shizune: ... Yeah. They?re scared because your levels went up so quickly... You?re almost at the same level as me now... They?re scared because they don?t know why.
Carlie: I-it?s because... Because there?s some sort of thing inside me! Her name is Juuri and she said she?s the other me...
Shizune: Tell me what happened from the beginning. Maybe we can figure out some rational explanation for this.
Carlie put the bowl of soup down and brought her knees to her chest.
Carlie: It started when I left to look for Mizu...
---Mizu?s Dream---
Mizu watched as a younger version of him ran into the forest. He tried to stay put, but invisible strings pulled him along.
Young Mizu: Rain-niichan! Rain-niichan! Look what I found!
He opened his hand to show the older boy the shiny gold stone in his palm. Rain grinned.
Rain: Good job Mizu! Let?s go get something to eat!
Young Mizu: B-but the people in town don?t like us...
The older Mizu remembered that the townspeople hated him and Rain because they both had magic abilities. The town shunned them because they thought they would curse them. They hated Rain even more, because of his soft black wings and glowing red eyes.
Rain: Who cares? We need food after all!
Young Mizu: O-okay...
They walked the short distance to the town. The older Mizu knew what was coming. He tried to shut his eyes, but they were forced open.
Rain: What would you like to eat tonight Mizu?
Young Mizu: Asuka-chan?s potato soup!
Rain: Potato soup it is then
The boys walked into town. Everyone glared at them. The crowds parted wherever the two boys stepped. A small man ran up to them. Panting, he told them that the mayor wanted to see them. They walked to the huge mansion, and they were greeted on the front lawn by the mayor. A huge crowd had gathered there.
Mayor: You two boys might be wondering why I summoned you here. You should already know! You murdered my wife!
The crowd gasped.
Rain: That?s a lie! We did no such thing!
The mayor laughed.
Mayor: Nobody will believe your pathetic excuses!
Rain has realized what was coming. He cast an invisibility spell on Mizu and pushed him into the crowd.
Rain: Run Mizu! Don?t worry about me!
The small boy looked back at Rain. He was crying, but nobody could see.
Once he was at the very edge of the crowd, he looked back, only to see his best friend have his head sliced off by a sword.
Both Mizus screamed.
---Near a pond, with Su and Shizuka---
Su lay on the ground, panting. Shizuka looked down at her while muttering something about hyperactive Mages. Chii and Grimm watched the whole thing from a tree by the pond.
Shizuka: What spells have I taught you so far?
Su: Bandage, Diagnose, Quicksand, Rock Armour, Healing Halo, Improbability Sphere, Twilight Flash and Fire Soul.
Shizuka: I think we?re just abou-
Chii: Guys, there?s someone coming!
A bright pink light erupted from the middle of the pond. Two figures stepped out on the water.
???: I really wish you hadn?t used the pink travel spell, Alice.
Alice: Whatever L.
Alice walked off the water and on the grass. The man, who had dark messy hair and eyes, followed her.
Alice: My boots are so wet! I wish Kalona would actually think twice before sending us to some stupid location.
L: Shut up and do the job Alice.
Alice: Right. We?re here to kill you all, so if you could just stand still while we stab you, it would be very helpful.
Su: Are you insane?! I?m not about to let you kill me!
Alice: You?re too confident for your own good, kid -_- I?ll handle the hyperactive kid and the ugly one, you can take the other two.
L nodded and walked over to the tree they were in casually. He tapped the trunk with his knuckles and the tree split in half. Chii and Grimm jumped off and landed on either side of him.
Grimm: You don?t really think you can beat both of us, do you?
L: No, but I can beat her.
He pointed to Chii, who was staring at L with trembling eyes. Grimm growled and drew his katana.
Grimm: Don?t touch her!
L sighed and reached into his back pocket. He pulled out a dagger.
L: I guess I have no choice but to do this the hard way.
Meanwhile, Shizuka and Su were having their own problems. Alice had chased them away from the pond and into the forest. She had then cast a darkness spell, which left Su and Shizuka unable to see anything.
Alice: What?s wrong, can?t you see me? I?m right in front of you!
Shizuka pushed Su out of the way just in time. Alice managed to stab Shizuka?s shoulder with a small dagger. Shizuka coughed up blood and fell to her knees.
Su: Sensei!!! Are you okay?
Shizuka: S-su... D-don?t get h-hit with the d-dagger... It?s poisoned...
Shizuka fell to the ground. Su kneeled down beside her and felt around for a pulse. Shizuka was alive, but barely. Su stood up, shaking.
Alice: She?ll be dead within a couple of hours. And so will you!
Alice attempted to stab Su in her ribs. Su caught her wrist just millimetres away from her skin. She threw Alice into a tree. She walked up to her and pinned her to the tree by her neck. Alice choked and kicked Su away from her.
Alice: You... You broke my wrist! You little-
She was cut off when Su punched her in the gut. She spit out blood and spun around and kicked Su?s ribs, sending her flying into a tree. The tree snapped in two and fell backward. The darkness spell wore off and light flooded Su?s vision.
Alice: Stupid brat... Prepare to die!
The dagger flew through the air and embedded itself deep in Su?s stomach.
---Back at the pond---
Grimm flew back and landed in front of Chii. He was beginning to get tired. No matter where or how he attacked, he was always blown back by one of L?s spells. Chii had been stunned for the whole time. Grimm knew L put a spell on her, but he also knew Chii could counter the spell. She just didn?t want to.
Grimm: Chii! What?s wrong? Do a counter-spell before we both die!
He picked her up and landed on a rock just in time to avoid one of L?s attack spells.
Chii: H-he...he?s the one...
Grimm: What one?
He ducked to avoid another attack.
Chii: ... I don?t know! M-my memory is gone...
Grimm blocked another attack with his katana.
Grimm: Do you think you can counter the stunning spell?
Chii: H-hai...
Chii muttered a few words and a crack was heard as the spell was broken. Chii picked herself up and waved her hand in the air. Her silver scythe gleamed.
Chii: I don?t know who this guy is, but we?re going to defeat him.
---With Carlie and Shizune---
Shizune: Hmm... That?s interesting.
Carlie: What is?
Shizune: How you have a split personality... I assume Su must have one too, since you both got here together.
Carlie nodded. It did make sense...
---In the forest with Su and Alice---
Su pulled the dagger from her stomach. Her wound was bleeding, but she didn?t care. She was going to kick this girl?s ass, no matter what. Her anger welled up inside her. She ran behind Alice and kicked her before she could react.
Alice: I?ve had enough of you! What the hell happened to you anyway?
Su: So you sensed my change in power. Maybe you?re not as stupid as I thought you were!
Alice: What are you?
Su: I?m the other side of Su. My name is Luna, and I am going to kill you.
Alice: Who the hell do you think you are? You can?t beat me! I?m one of Kalona?s strongest fighters! Soon you?ll be dead because of that poison in your body anyways!
Luna: That is where you?re wrong. I can reject the poison from my body.
Alice: W-what?
Luna: It?s one of my abilities. I heal very quickly. Although my healing capabilities aren?t at Juuri?s level, they are better than most people?s.
Alice frowned. Maybe she would have to defeat her in a different way. She had the perfect way. She grinned wickedly and pointed at Luna. A line of black Mana connected her finger and Luna?s body.
Alice: My specialty is messing with people?s Mana. This is my ultimate technique. I have immobilised you and I will force Mana into you until your body cannot hold all of it and you die from exhaustion!
???: I?m sorry, but I can?t allow that.
---At the Pond---
Chii lunged at L with her scythe, preparing to slash him into pieces, until she caught a glimpse of his eyes. L saw this as a chance, so he gracefully dodged as Chii hit the ground with tears in her eyes.
Chii: N-no....why..W-who are you?
L sighed and shook his head.
L: It's a shame you don't remember me Chii. I was your boyfriend after all...
Chii slowly opened her eyes as she realized everything. Grimm glanced at Chii who looked like she was in no mood to fight. He then turned his attention onto L.
Grimm: Don't believe him Chii! He's just trying to mess with your head.
Chii: B-but it's true! It fits together so perfectly...he can't be lying.
L: Tch. If you believe it or not doesn't change the results of this battle.
The dark mage casted a ball of electiricty on his hand and charged at Grimm, hitting him in the gut. The angel spit out blood while Chii sat there still in shock.
Grimm: Chii! Wake up! You gotta help me! Whatever happened to you with that guy in the past doesn't matter now!
Chii thinking: He's right. The past is the past and the present is now.
Chii stood up and shook her thoughts away. She tightened her grip on her scythe and rushed toward the mage. He tried to dodge, but Chii managed to lay a large cut on his chest.
Chii thinking: Don?t. Ever. Mess. With. My. Friends.
L: Ugh...it's not over yet!
L growled as he whispered some words. A katana materialized in his hand, it still held blood stains from his last fight. He focused the electric flow from his hand to the katana and smirked.
L: The real battle begins now.
--To Carlie, Shizune and the others--
Ichi: Shizune! Carlie! Shade's having another vision!
Shizune: SHADE! What did you see tell me!
Shade: I-I saw the Chii trying to fight this mage guy. And this blonde girl battling Su, but there was someone else there too. I couldn't actually see who though.
Carlie: We need to go back there NOW! Let's go already!
Roku: Wait....I hear the bushes rustling...
Everyone got prepared to battle, as it continued rustling.
Meow!
Train: Did I just hear a meow?
Roku: Aww...it's just a kitty!
Roku tried to pick up the cat, but it scratched his face instead leaving a cut that started bleeding.
Roku: Ow! That cat is possessed I tell you!
???: Urusai! You?re the one with wings!
Everyone stared in shock while the cat was rubbing her ears with her paw.
Carlie: D-did it just talk?
???: No duh, you imbecile.
Sakura: U-uhm what's your name..? If you have one that is.
Eliana: Eliana! Nice to meet ya :3
Everyone clapped in amazement, but Ichi just rolled his eyes.
Ichi: Aren't black cats supposed to be unlucky? And weren't we just going to help Su and the others?
Carlie: But she looks too cute to be unlucky! In fact, I bet she'll bring us good luck instead!
The white mage picked up the dark kitten and petted her ears as she purred.
Shizune: Carlie, Ichi is right we need to go help the others. Leave Eliana, she'll just be a burden to us.
Carlie: Aw... alright Shizune-neechan.
She reluctantly put the cat back down on the floor and waved goodbye sadly.
Carlie: Okay, let's go.
Everyone turned their attention away from the cat and started running toward the forest, but little did they know, the little neko jumped into Carlie's black pack.
Eliana: Hehe. They're not going to get rid of me so easily. :3
--With Su and Alice--
???: You really think that I would just let that thing you did to me just slide by?
Alice: Who are you? Come out already!
A dark figure came out of the shadow of the trees, he had raven black hair and midnight blue eyes. The man was none other than...
Alice: Mizu! You shouldn't be here!
Mizu: Oh, but I am aren't I? Now, let go of that girl. I'm your opponent now.
Luna: No way, this is my fight, piss off.
He chuckled at her words and then flew to the crimson eyed girl. He touched her forehead with a purple glow on his fingers.
Mizu: Isn't it passed your bedtime kid?
Luna collapsed on the ground. Mizu turned to face Alice.
Mizu: Now, where were we?
