[Discussion] Working To Live Or Living To Work?

We live to work our asses off. I have the job i always wanted and love and my partens are their own bosses... it still doesn't matter though. You still have shitload of stuff to do and it ain't that easy and relaxing as some people might think.

In my opinion, both are ****ed up. Both basically boil down to placing a pricetag on our right to live, which is just...idk I've always felt like one should earn luxuries, not life.



You're a slave because, in a world that spans hundreds of countries, you've been conditioned into thinking that living is spending most of your time confined to one city so someone higher up than you can get paid while you lap up whatever trickles down from their leftovers. Everyone has a price tag on their life because of the way humanity have set themselves up. You're a slave because you're okay with this.

Your first mistake is that you assume you know me. I don't have a 9-5, I'm not looking for a promotion because I don't need one. I earn whatever I made myself. Your second mistake is you also assume that I'm somehow restricted to one place, again if you've been paying attention I said I can work wherever I want(if you didn't guess by now, I work online). However, there is nowhere else I'd rather be than where I am right now which is home with my family, friends and city I grew up in. That doesn't mean I can't take a vacation whenever I want. So I'm anything but a slave, I'm my own boss, plain and simple.

For one, I was not saying YOU lived your life that way. You indicated you see no problem with living life that way, based on your negative response to YowYan for speaking ill of living life that way. I pointed out why that means you have the mindset of a slave for it.

Regardless of if you're working independently or alone, you still are subject to the same greed-induced system we're living in, the foundation of which is a dependence of money just to survive

There is no greed-inducing system, just greedy people and those people are usually poor not to mention shallow. Don't use the word "you" if you're not going to speak to me directly and don't quote me either. How the **** you going to quote someone, call them out and say you weren't talking to/about them? I'm saying there is nothing wrong with working to live because that's the main reason for working. It's how society incentivize it, alot of people choose that lifestyle and are happy with it. If they're not they can leave at anytime. No one is holding a gun to their head. People who don't like their job but stay in it are slaves and only to themselves.

the slaves work all day, the free men think, they spend their time fooling around, enjoying themselves and thinking about the meaning of life, and the beauty of the world, and the color of the *****.

we are like rome; 95% of slaves building the civilization and 5% of the free citizens that are really free. that's how the system works.

what confirms that we are slaves is that most of the people don't even think enough to know that they are slaves. that's what a slave is, he doesn't think. but I'm happy I'm a modern slave and not living in a cage...I thank economic growth for it.

the problem is, the world doesn't need anymore a system with slaves and free citizens anymore, because of technology, everybody can be free...only time can tell us how things will become in the future. (you don't say !)^^

There is no greed-inducing system, just greedy people and those people are usually poor not to mention shallow. Don't use the word "you" if you're not going to speak to me directly and don't quote me either. How the **** you going to quote someone, call them out and say you weren't talking to/about them? I'm saying there is nothing wrong with working to live because that's the main reason for working. It's how society incentivize it, alot of people choose that lifestyle and are happy with it. A lot of ppl don't have the luxury to quit that job, cuz they simply can't afford being jobless for a month or two until another opportunity presents itself.
