Hashirama was in the same tier as EMS Madara. The Kyuubi was Madara's power (Madara's Genjutsu controlled him). The two fought fairly evenly, but Hashirama's Mokuton naturally counters Bijuu.

They're basically weaker Transmigrants than Naruto/Sasuke, although Madara surpassed being a mere transmigrant and became the vessel for Kaguya.
