Won't make much sense if rinnegan is an evolution to sharingan.

Simply because unlocking the rinnegan must be when you have both types of DNA Senju and Uchiha so seeing as how sharingan is a bloodline trait for the uchiha clan it won't make much sense if it evolves into a rinnegan without Senju DNa...

Dude, what it means is that only an Uchiha can "NATURALLY" evolve their sharingan. But, the uchiha need senju DNA first. It doesn't work the other way around, like senju just need sharingan because the eyes are not "theirs". Which is why nagato's body never fully "mastered" the rinnegan like madara has. Uchiha bodies are built for their dojutsu use, so they can take full advantage of it's powers.

The Uchiha's "eyes" suffered from attenuation, and thus are in a weaker state than that of their ancestor the Elder Son. Emotional trauma sprouts it's various evolution's but the Senju's Yang is required to return it to it's Maturest/original state: The Rinnengan.
