Scenario 1: I’m fighting a single opponent at short range. We stand in a deep ravine that has the tricklings of a river running through it. Before I know it, my opponent is on the offensive; he uses the slight bit of water between us and attacks with a suiton technique. I immediately channel my chakra and convert it to doton chakra, sending it all over my body. I form the Snake handseal, which turns my skin as hard as steel. I take the suiton attack head on, but it has no effect on me whatsoever.
Using the doton chakra I’ve already molded, I counter. I stomp one of my feet onto the ground, releasing my chakra through my leg and into the earth beneath me. Between myself and my opponent, the ground fractures and rips apart, causing portions of rock to rise up rapidly all around my opponent. He’s hit hard and even sent into the air a bit.
I finish this fight by gathering my chakra and creating suiton chakra. I inhale, concentrating my chakra into my chest and lungs. I exhale powerfully, releasing a huge and rapid torrent of water that I aim upward toward my opponent. The stream is so extremely forceful that it rips him apart. As he falls back to the ground, the excess water does as well, making the river flow with much more might than before.

Scenario 2: I’m facing an opponent at short range, and we find ourselves in the mountainous region of Kumogakure. We’re almost on a ledge of the mountain itself. I start by gathering my chakra and molding a bit of suiton and fūton chakra. I use the former chakra to release a wave of water towards my opponent and then the latter chakra to enhance the wave’s power. The wave of water and burst of wind come together in a great wave that hits my opponent head on.
But, he’s not defeated just yet. He retaliates with a fire technique. To defend myself, I focus on my chakra and make doton chakra. After I perform the Snake handseal, I channel my doton chakra throughout my body, making my skin turn almost black. My skin becomes hard like steel, and when the fire jutsu hits me, I’m not even affected.
I utilize the same doton chakra that I’ve already accumulated, I weave the Boar and Ox handseals before slamming my hands on the cliff beneath my feet. My chakra flows through the ground, breaking up the earth around my opponent to the point where it spirals in on itself. This causes the earth surrounding my opponent to break away from the cliff, sending him falling to his death.

Fūton: Fūsui Ranha no Jutsu-Wind Release: Wind Water Wild Wave Technique

This technique is capable of causing quite a bit of damage to a large area. This technique is much more damaging if used in rocky mountainous areas, or inside a cave.

Pros: –This jutsu already has only one handseal, making it quick and easy to perform, yet Kakuzu can perform this jutsu without handseals as well.
-This jutsu is the utmost defense due to it hardening the user’s entire body like steel, which makes this jutsu very useful in battle.
-This jutsu can also increase the damage of physical attacks, which means that it can be used offensively as well as defensively.

Cons: –This jutsu leaves the user vulnerable to lightning techniques because lightning is earth’s natural weakness.
-This jutsu is short-ranged because the user can only perform it on themselves, so it won’t affect an opponent unless the user attacks them or defends themselves.
-This jutsu still requires a handseal, so an opponent who uses a jutsu without handseals could still counter this jutsu.

Counter: Probably Lightning Release: Lightning Strike Armor, for the same reason as the last jutsu. It’s a Raiton technique that could weaken the Earth Spear.

Question(s): So this jutsu can essentially enhance taijutsu attacks like the previous jutsu can?

Scenario 1: I’m facing one opponent at mid-range, and we stand in a grass field. I start this fight by collecting my chakra. I create doton chakra and concentrate it into my hands before slamming one of them onto the ground in front of me. I release my chakra, and it flows through the earth so that I take control of the ground, specifically underneath my opponent. Rocks erupt out of nowhere and knock my opponent back.
Then, I gather my chakra and mold suiton chakra. I weave the handseals Ram, Snake, and Tiger and release my chakra, making a black mist. I form the mist into a cloud, and I use my chakra to send it over my opponent’s head. He tries to move, but I disperse the cloud, which sends oil down onto my opponent.
This time, I make katon chakra. I focus it into my stomach and inhale. When I exhale, I release my chakra up through my lungs and mouth, creating a burst of flames. I form it into a small fireball and aim it at my opponent. When it hits, my opponent instantly becomes aflame since the fire makes contact with the oil. He can’t continue this battle.

Scenario 2: I’m fighting an opponent at mid-range. He starts running towards me, as though he wants to start engaging in close combat. But I decide to keep him at bay. I start by gathering my chakra and molding it into doton chakra. I send that chakra into my hands before slamming one of them onto the ground. I release my chakra into the earth, which causes giant rocks to protrude from the ground suddenly. They hit my opponent hard, sending him back a bit.
I then run towards him, closing the distance between us and making our battle short-ranged. I collect my chakra to make suiton chakra. Once I weave the Ram handseal, water materializes around my right arm. I bring it back and then punch, letting a water bullet fly toward my opponent.
Once the projectile is on its way, I immediately follow up by creating raiton chakra. I focus that chakra into my hands and release it, forming a wave of electricity with one hand. I release the electricity in a small surge, and it rushes to catch up with the water. The two elements combine, enhancing the water bullet just before it strikes my opponent, shocking him and rendering him unable to fight.

Pros:- This jutsu requires no handseals, making it quick and easy to perform.
- Since this jutsu needs no handseals, and in nature is very fast to perform, this jutsu could be used in a combination by the user.
- This jutsu gets underneath the opponent and pushes them away, meaning that the user can put distance betwee himself and the opponent.

Cons:- This jutsu is only mid-range, making it sort of restrictive for use in battle because it can only be performed from that distance.
- The jutsu functions only as an attack, meaning that the user cannot defend themselves or provide a supplementary technique with this jutsu.
- This jutsu is fairly straightforward, so an opponent could possibly see the jutsu coming and dodge/counter it easily.

Counter: Wind Release: Vacuum Wave, because it would deflect the Rock Trail away from the user and possibly cause damage to the user of Rock Trail at the same time.

The next is an earth summoning technique. Make the two handseals and focus your chakra in sky above your target then create a portal which will open and pour out sticky mud upon the target who is below.

Scenario 1: I’m standing at short range from my opponent. I start this battle by gathering my chakra and molding it into suiton chakra. I focus that chakra into my mouth and inhale. When I exhale, I bring my hand to my mouth and expel water from my mouth. I grab the water, shaping it into a whip that extends quite a ways out. I use my hand to lash the whip forward, making contact with my opponent and sending him flying.
Now at mid range from my opponent, I concentrate on the chakra in my system and create an amount of doton chakra. I weave the handseals Rat, Horse, Dog, and Snake. The earth around my opponent breaks apart, and rock pillars rise from the ground. The pillars trap my opponent in a prison of rock.
Finally, I use the same doton chakra that I’ve already made. I weave the handseals Ram and Snake, releasing my chakra into the sky above my opponent. An opening appeared above him, and a huge amount of mud poured into the rock prison. The mud crushes and piles onto my opponent, pooling thickly and heavily and even leaking a bit out of the prison. But, my opponent is taken care of because of this technique.

Suiton: Nagareru no Muchi- Water Release: Flowing Whip

Then, I decide to increase the effectiveness of this technique. I gather my chakra, and I mold katon chakra. I concentrate that chakra into the pit of my stomach, inhaling deeply. I exhale, releasing my chakra up through my chest and mouth, which forms a stream of fire. I use my chakra to create a fireball and shoot it toward my opponent.
I follow up quickly by making fūton chakra. I clap my hands together, releasing my chakra from all points of my body. I create a surge of wind that flies toward my opponent, but the wind first makes contact with the fireball. The air literally fuels the flames, making the small fireball burst into a much larger fireball. The huge fireball hits my opponent and the mud he is trapped in. The mud gets instantly baked, making it impossible to move for my opponent. He remains trapped.

- This jutsu would be a good one to use in a combo, such as with the Sixteen Pillar Bind and Firing Biscuit Technique, since it could be used very quickly.
- This jutsu would also be good as a finishing technique, since it can either trap an opponent or crush the opponent completely.

Cons:- While this jutsu has a short list a handseals, an opponent could still use a technique requiring no handseals to evade this jutsu.
- This jutsu is only short to mid-ranged, meaning that an opponent out of range would be able to avoid this jutsu.
- This jutsu is fairly straightforward, in that it comes directly from above an opponent. They could easily dodge the jutsu by moving away.

Counter: Probably Wind Release: Powerful Wind Wave, so that the mud would be pushed away and blasted apart.

Question(s): Just out of curiosity, what technique would you have used to counter this? I had a hard time coming up with a counter. :erm:

Ofcos there are many ways inwhich you can evade/counter. You can split it with a wind jutsu, lightning jutsu or water jutsu. You can merge through it with "attack leech prevention tech". You can move out of the way or even defend yourself with the great stone golem.

you will open another portal but now instead of mud, a solid lid would fall from it on your target.

Alright, I understand. I just wanted your opinion on that, so thank you!

Scenario 1: An opponent engages me in battle at mid-range. Gathering my chakra, I mold it into raiton chakra, focusing a lot of it specifically into my right hand. I wave my hand in front of me, releasing my chakra and creating a burst of lightning bolts. They all shoot towards my opponent, but he dodges them with ease.
Seeing as how that jutsu failed, I make doton chakra this time. When my opponent has landed back on the ground, I release my chakra to condense the soil and rock in the area around my opponent. Four, large spikes protrude from the ground surrounding my opponent. However, this time he dodges by escaping upward.
However, this is where I have him beat. I use the same doton chakra that I’ve already molded and concentrate it into both of my hands. I weave the Snake handseal and slam my hands on the ground. Above my opponent’s head, a portal appears. A giant lid made of earth races toward the ground, and it lands right on my opponent, causing him and the area around him a lot of damage. He is instantly crushed by the lid’s enormous weight.

Raiton: Ikazuchi Kashou- Lightning Release: Thunder Burn

But I’m not done yet. I mold doton chakra this time, yet I let it pool in my mouth. I inhale and exhale once more, except I release my chakra and spit out a thick glob of mud at my opponent’s feet. The mud is so sticky that my opponent becomes trapped.
To end this battle, I utilize the same doton chakra that I’ve already made. I let my chakra flow into my hands before weaving the Snake handseal. I slam my hands onto the ground in front of me. I create a portal way above my opponent’s head. A huge, earthen lid comes falling from the sky. It drops down at incredible speeds and makes contact with my opponent, squashing him instantly.

Katon: Shōkasou- Fire Release: Small Fire Stream

Cons:- Since this jutsu comes straight from above an opponent, they can easily move to any side to dodge the lid, or they can even go underground.
- If the user doesn’t use the lid at a great enough distance, then the user too will be crushed or trapped by this jutsu.
- This jutsu still requires one handseal, so an opponent could use a technique that doesn’t have handseals to avoid this jutsu.

Counter: A clone of any kind (Rock or Water, in my case) would work so the user could replace himself with his clone and make an escape while the lid falls on the clone.

Scenario 1: I’m faced with a group of enemies, and they are mid-range from me. To try and make this match fairer, I build my chakra and mold some doton chakra. I release my chakra through my feet and into the ground beneath me. I manipulate the earth to mold mud and shape the mud into copies of myself. I create 5 clones to match the 5 enemies.
Then, my enemies decide to attack. They launch kunais with explosive tags on them, and the kunais fly toward me. I control my chakra to move my clones into position in front of me, and they slam the ground with their hands. The areas of earth in front of the clones suddenly raise up into 5 slabs, each with minimal space between them. They form a collective wall, which the kunais make contact with. The slabs of earth crumble from the explosions, as do my clones.
It’s just me left, but I’m ready to attack. I’ve concentrated my chakra and created fūton chakra. I weave the Ram handseal, and my chakra fills my entire body until I release it, causing an enormous burst of air to happen. I use my chakra to shape the wind into 5 tornadoes, and they whirl close enough to form a wall. I send the wall of tornadoes at my enemies, and they are all dragged away and damaged immensely in the process.

Scenario 2: I’m fighting one opponent at mid-range. I start my attack immediately, focusing my chakra and converting it to katon chakra. I weave the handseals Snake, Ram, Monkey, Boar, Horse, and Tiger as I take a deep breath. My chakra mixes with the air I’ve inhaled. When I exhale, I lift my thumb and index finger to my mouth. I release my chakra, creating a large fireball that escapes my lips. The fireball barrels toward my opponent, and he uses his speed to evade the jutsu.
But I’m not done yet. I collect my chakra again, this time molding it into doton chakra. I send my chakra through my feet and into the ground, releasing it. I manipulate the earth into mud, and I form a few clones of myself. They run toward my opponent, yet as he tries to fight them off, they revert to mud and bind him. Now the clones are just a mass of mud that has trapped my opponent.
I use the same doton chakra that I’ve already accumulated for my last technique. I weave the handseals Ram and Snake. I release my chakra into the sky, which opens up to reveal a huge portal above my opponent’s head. Mud suddenly pours from the gap in the sky, which covers my opponent even more. The sheer weight of the mud crushes him, and the combined mud together is so sticky and heavy that it traps him for good.

Description: The user does 2 handseals (Ram → Snake) and creates an opening within the sky, which drips down onto the opponent a large amount of sticky mud (in all similar to that of Swamp of the Underworld Technique), covering them. The mud is very heavy and thick as well as adhesive, making it impossible to move if caught and easily crushing an enemy underneath. It’s normally followed up by Lightning Release: Sixteen Pillar Bind to create a giant oven around the opponent and then using Fire Release: Firing Biscuit Technique to ignite the oven, hardening the mud and immobilizing the enemy target.

Pros:- Since the clones are made of mud, they can reform and mold themselves again after taking damage, meaning that they can last longer than other types of clones.
- Also since the clones are made of mud, they can take physical damage up to C-rank. And the clones can use up to C-rank earth techniques, making them useful for offense or defense in battle.
- When the clones are reduced to just mud, they can become a binding technique, holding an opponent in place. This makes the jutsu very flexible to use in multiple ways.

Cons:- The clones can only be made at short range because they can’t be made any farther from the user.
- The clones can’t be sent very far away from the user, since they will deteriorate from lack of contact with the user’s chakra.
- The clones cannot withstand physical attacks higher than C-rank, and the clones cannot use earth techniques over C-rank.

Counter: Lightning Release: Electromagnetic Murder, because once the clones made contact with the lightning surge, then they would be electrocuted and crumble from the electricity.

Question(s): I’m kind of wondering: when the clones are reverted to mud, could a water technique be used to create a flow of mud? So instead of forming back into clones, the mud sweeps an opponent away with the addition of water?

I’m SO sorry for my lack of a response. :( I hope that our training can continue, but of course, I understand if not.

Scenario 1: I’ve taken notice of a group of ninja advancing toward me from a distance. They start by throwing a lot of shuriken and kunai my way. Facing them, I gather my chakra quickly and mold it into katon chakra to start. I reach into my ninja pouch and grab a lighter. I channel katon chakra into the lighter. Then, I get it lit and throw it into the air, watching the flame as it flies. I release my katon chakra, suddenly creating a wall of fire in front of me. The shuriken and kunai get embroiled in the fire, and I’m protected from them.
Once the fire dies down from the wall, I use the katon chakra I just utilized for that technique and take a deep breath. I can feel my katon chakra mixing with the air I’ve inhaled. I weave the handseals Snake, Ram, Monkey, Boar, Horse, and Tiger. After that, I use one hand to form a circle around my mouth, made up of my thumb and index finger. I exhale, spewing a large fireball at my opponents as they draw closer. It incinerates everything in its path, including a few members of their group.
They’ve long since been in range for my final technique, but now is the time to use it. Instead of creating any more katon chakra, I make doton chakra. I focus that chakra into my hands while performing the handseals Ram, Horse, Tiger, Rabbit, and Snake. Then, I slam my hands onto the ground in front of me. I release my chakra into the earth on either side of my opponents. All of the sudden, that earth transforms into a set of jaws that closes in on them. Those that are left are crushed between the different sides of earth.

Scenario 2: I’m fighting a group of ninja at short range. I take the initiative and collect my chakra. I mold it into ration chakra, concentrating that chakra into my hands. I weave the handseals Tiger, Snake, and Dog, thrusting one of my hands out in front of me and releasing my chakra. From my palm, an electric current shoots out. The current manages to take out several of them, but some of them still remain.
I then create doton chakra, but I let it flow into my hands just as I did with the previous technique. I perform the handseals Ram, Horse, Tiger, Rabbit, and Snake before slamming my hands onto the ground before me. From either side of my opponents, the earth rises and forms into a set of jaws that quickly descends on them. A few of them manage to escape by moving forward or backward, avoiding the jaws. The others are crushed and stabbed by the earth.
This last technique has to finish them, so I get right to executing it. I use the doton chakra that I’ve already made, and I weave the hand signs Ram and Snake. From the sky above my opponents, an opening appears between the clouds. I release my chakra, causing a huge amount of mud to pour down onto my opponents. The mud is very sticky, and it swamps the rest of them, either making it impossible for them to move or crushing them completely.

- This justu is very flexible to use in battle because the size of the jaws can be adjusted to fit the size of an opponent or perhaps a group of opponents.
- This jutsu emerges from either side of an opponent, making it difficult for the opponent to avoid.

Cons: – There are five handseals and a motion to perform for this jutsu, meaning that an opponent has plenty of time to counter with a faster technique.
- This jutsu has potential openings, so an opponent can escape down, forward, or backward if they have enough time to.
- An opponent could use a Raiton technique or a higher-ranked Doton technique to overcome and nullify this jutsu.

Counter: Wind Release: Serial Waves, since the user can create the blades of wind at different angles. So no matter what directions the Devouring Earth is coming from, the user of Serial Waves can cut through the earth quickly with the turns of their head.

Very simple technique. You manipulate the existing earth using your chakra to break them apart and move them aeound the opponent so that it forms a house of some sort, a cave, a cavern arouns them to trap them.

Alright!

Scenario 1: I’m only engaged in battle with one opponent. I have a giant folding fan strapped to my back, and I reach my hand over my head to release it. Holding the fan in front of me with both hands, I gather my chakra and mold it into fūton chakra. I send that fūton chakra through my hands and into the massive handle of the fan. I move the fan out to the side and slightly behind me. Then, I bring it forward and swing it across my body, causing a burst of wind to happen. The wind forms a spinning disk as it hurtles toward my opponent.
My opponent evades the disk, but I’m not done with my folding fan yet. I keep fūton chakra flowing through the handle and material of the fan, and I bring it behind me once more, preparing for another swing. Once more, I move the fan in front of me, creating another burst of wind. This time, the wind turns into a huge vortex that hits my opponent and spins him around violently. He is lifted into the sky, where three bolts of lightning suddenly strike him from out of nowhere. He falls to the ground in a world of hurt.
Since he’s not going anywhere fast, I return my fan to its rightful place on my back. Once I do, I collect my chakra again. But for this last technique, I create doton chakra. I focus it into my hands and weave the Snake handseal. I release my chakra and manipulate the earth around the area where my opponent lies. The ground breaks apart, and earth rises into the air to create a sort of cavern all around my opponent and above him, too. He becomes trapped completely.

Scenario 2: I’m faced with a group of opponents, who are all headed my way and increasingly getting closer. Before they reach mid-range, I collect my chakra, molding it into doton chakra. I concentrate on sending that chakra into my hands. Then, I slam my hands onto the ground before me. I release my chakra, which causes the earth to rise up and giant rocks to jag out. The blunt force of the rocks takes only a couple of my opponents out, so I must end this quickly.
Using the same doton chakra I’ve already created, I focus that chakra into my hands once again. I perform the Snake handseal. When I release my chakra, the ground all around my opponents rises up and over them. The earth surrounds them and traps them in a cavern-like structure, except there’s an opening at the top. I use it to deliver my final technique.
I jump on top of the cavern, amassing as much chakra as I can and converting it into suiton chakra. I act before my opponents have a chance to make their escape. I inhale, weaving the Ram handseal, and exhale, spitting out an enormous amount of water. The water comes pouring from my mouth down into the depths of the cavern. It crushes my opponents even before I use my chakra to form the water into an orb, which engulfs the cavern and the greater area around it.

The user then forms the water into a giant orb, instead of releasing like weaker version of the technique.

Pros: – This jutsu only requires one handseal and no movements, such as stomping a foot or slamming hands on the ground, so it’s a very quick technique to use.
- This jutsu is very flexible, in that the user can either trap their opponent completely or leave an opening to attack them while they are trapped.
- The cavern can be made large enough to trap a large group of opponents, not just one (i.e. Naruto’s Shadow Clones), so this jutsu can be used for multiple purposes.

Cons: – The jutsu is only short to mid ranged, meaning that the user cannot trap opponents who are at long range.
- There’s nothing to stop the opponents from using techniques that would take them underground, and therefore out of the cavern that’s been created.
- If the user leaves the opening for an attack, then the opponents could escape from the opening if they’re quick enough.

Counter: Water Release: Water Bullet Technique, to break through the cavern wall around the user and free them from the Earth Corridor.

Scenario 1: One opponent faces me at the bottom of a valley, and we are at mid-range. As he starts to attack me with a barrage of shuriken, I pull out a lighter from my ninja pouch and gather my chakra. I then mold it into katon chakra, and I concentrate that chakra through my hand and into the lighter. I ignite the lighter and throw it. I release my chakra, which turns the flame of the lighter into a wall of fire. The wall protects me from the shuriken.
While the wall of fire is still burning, I collect my chakra again, this time molding fūton chakra. I channel that chakra into my hand, which I close into a fist. I punch and release my chakra, creating a burst of wind that turns into a whirlwind. It makes contact with the wall of fire, making the fire even more powerful and destructive. My opponent gets hit violently and now lies on the ground, trying to put out the fire on his clothes.
Since he’s down, I gather my chakra one more time, and I create doton chakra. I send that chakra into my hands as I weave the Ram handseal. I release my chakra, focusing on the ground underneath and surrounding my opponent. The mud gets sucked toward the center of a newly-created pit. My opponent gets sucked along with it, and soon, he’s sunk completely underground.

Scenario 2: I’m facing a single opponent in a wide field of grass. We are at a short range from one another. I decide to start on the offensive, gathering my chakra and molding it into fūton chakra. I let that chakra flow throughout my body, especially my hands, and I perform the handsigns Tiger, Snake, and Ram. I release my chakra, creating a vortex of wind that bursts from every pore in my body. The wind barrels toward my opponent, and he tries to defend himself.
While he’s busy with that, I go on to my next technique. I collect chakra, except this time, I create doton chakra. I focus that chakra into my hands as well as the ground directly beneath me. I weave the Tiger handseal and release my chakra, which causes the earth beneath me to rise up sharply. I imagine a plateau, and sure enough, the earth begins to take that form. I find myself a ways up compared to where my opponent is.
Finally, I combine this technique with another one. I collect my chakra and mold suiton chakra. I concentrate that chakra into my hands while weaving the handsigns Boar, Dog, and Ram. I release my chakra and let it flow into the technique; this creates a giant waterfall that spills over the edge of the plateau in a great wave. The water pours down onto the land below me, engulfing my opponent and sweeping him away.

Description: By performing the Tiger hand seal the user then makes a gigantic rampart rise up beneath the user's feet, by shaping the ground and increasing the amount of earth with chakra. Depending on what the user imagines, the shape of the rampart can be anything from level ground to a steep, needle-like mountain. If the user increases the volume of earth too much, he can be forced to keep his chakra consumption down. The user can combine this jutsu with Water Style: Waterfall Basin Technique to create a waterfall.

Description: After performing the required hand seals Boar → Dog → Ram the user creates a waterfall by developing spring water in a place without water veins and manipulating the resulting water current to form a wave. This is a very convenient technique as it can be used for training or relaxation. On the other hand, because it changes the environment on a large scale, it also has the effect of hiding one's location from the enemy by confusing them. The width of the water source, waterfall, and basin can be expended, as long as the user continues to send chakra in.

barrier itself is also coated with chakra,
making its strength incomparable to that of
a normal mud wall. Because of the earth's
special characteristics, the wall is highly
resistant against, for instance, fire and water. Hizuren Sarutobi spits mud from his
mouth to perform the jutsu whilst Kakashi
creates a wall composed of bulldog
sculptures to box-in Pain.
Another earth wall but this time around, you either spit mud from you mouth and make it erupt into a large wall or you erect it directly from existing earth.

technique, despite being faster than
Underground Projection Fish technique.

Scenario: The opponent I’m facing stands from me at short-range, and to the right of us is the edge of a lake. He starts by using the Great Fireball Technique. I gather my chakra rapidly and mold it into doton chakra. I weave the handsigns Tiger, Hare, Boar, and Dog, and I release my chakra into the earth, deciding to use the earth in front of me instead of producing my own. The ground in front of me rises up and forms a wall. The special properties of this technique protect me just fine from the fireball.
Once the flames have died down and dispersed, I use the doton chakra that I’ve already created. I manipulate a small chunk of rock at my feet and pick it up in my hand. I emerge from behind the wall, getting my opponent in my sights. I throw it at my opponent, and he narrowly avoids it.
While he’s moving to evade that technique, I use my final one. I collect my chakra and make suiton chakra this time. I use water from the lake beside us, and with a wave of my hand, a huge amount of water spirals around my opponent. The vortex sends him flying into the air. With another wave of my hand, I dispel the water, which makes my opponent fall and hit the ground violently.

Pros:- Because the earth wall is coated with chakra, it proves to be especially resilient, even against its weakness: water.
- Various users have utilized this jutsu in different ways (whether as a single wall to protect themselves or multiple walls to box an opponent in), so this jutsu is flexible to use during a fight.
- The user can also either spit out their chakra to form the wall or they can manipulate pre-existing earth, which makes this jutsu even more flexible to use.

Cons:- This jutsu is short-ranged, meaning that it can only be performed so far away from the user, and the user may only be able to protect himself and not his comrades.
- This jutsu has a list of four handseals, which isn’t very long but can still affect the speed and efficiency at which this jutsu is performed.
- One form of the earth wall would only be able to protect the user from the front, so an opponent could easily attack the opponent from all other sides.

Counter: Wind Release: Vacuum Slash Technique, because the blades of wind come together to form a single scythe, and that scythe could cut through the earth wall easily.

Scenario: I’m fighting an opponent that’s at short range from me. I immediately get this party started by gathering my chakra and making doton chakra. I perform the handsigns Rat, Horse, Dog, and Snake. Releasing my chakra into the ground, I take control of the earth around us and create several rock pillars. They protrude from the ground rapidly, and I use my chakra to close them around my opponent, creating a prison to trap him.
While he’s stuck in there with nowhere to go, I use the same doton chakra that I’ve already created and channel it throughout my body. I rush up to the outside of the pillars and blend myself in with the rock. I phase from the outside of the prison to the inside, watching as my opponent struggles to find a way out. I move behind him before I come out of the rock and cancel the technique.
I have to move quick before my opponent can spot me. I channel my chakra into my hands and mold it into raiton chakra. When I release that chakra, a powerful stream of lightning shoots from my hands right at my opponent, electrocuting him and killing him.

Doton: Ganchūrō no Jutsu - Earth Release: Rock Pillar Prison Technique

Description: This jutsu allows the user to create a wave of electricity from the user's hands. This jutsu can vary in power from a small surge to shock an opponent to a powerful stream of lightning capable of ripping through solid rock. It is ideal to use in conjunction with a water jutsu.

Pros:- This justu is long-ranged, meaning that a user can phase into rock or earth that’s far away from the opponent so that the user can come closer and get the jump on them.
- There are no handseals for this technique, just the channeling of doton chakra throughout the body, so this jutsu could be performed pretty quickly.
- This jutsu can be used for a sneak or surprise attack, making it very effective as part of a combo used on the battlefield.

Cons:- This jutsu could be performed quickly, BUT the actual phasing into the rock goes rather slowly, meaning that the user could still be stopped during the technique.
- Even though other shinobi can’t see the user, dojutsu users as well as sensors will be able to detect the user while they are phased into the earth.
- The justu can only be used with rock or solid earth, meaning that the user couldn’t phase into mud, dirt, sand, etc., which could be disadvantageous.

Counter: Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique, because once you’ve got an opponent wrapped up with wire, cord, etc., they can’t move, much less phase into the rock they intend to hide in.

shinobi from Iwagakure use this technique
in their pride tactic, luring several enemies
into a cave to kill them all at once.
You will use your chakra to loosen the bond holding an earthen structure together so that it collapses on your target or supplementarily for your own advantage.
