plays with a small flame that dances above her palm. She makes it appear and disappear with the closing and reopening of her hand. She patiently waits for her sensei, her blonde hair flowing gingerly with the wind. A large, willow tree supports her as she leans on it. The sky is pure blue and only a couple birds soar above.

Dean emerges from a dark portal in his Keigoku form, turning back to normal as he sees a young woman before him. Dean couldn't help but wonder what brought such a hot girl to the training fields, he had never seen her before. Nonetheless, she was perhaps in search of some training, and according to a small journal Dean kept, now was his usual time that he would give some Genjutsu teachings. His favorite.

"Hey, beautiful. Came for some training?"

Dean asked, trying to be slick. He didn't know anything about her, which meant a myriad of things could occur in response to his question. Dean was optimistic it was a positive answer.

Rebekah extinguished the dancing flame at the sight of the man. His hair was dark and he wore a slightly muddy leather jacket. With little effort, Rebekah pushed herself off of the tree and stood at her full hieght. The sentence that rolled off her sensei's tongue caused Rebekah's lips to twitch up. Beautiful. She had been called that many times in the past and even more in her present. But it sounded different coming from this man.

"Well I'm certainly not here to flirt, handsome."

She returned his remark with a small grin. However, quickly after Rebekah cleared her throat, her eyes averting to the ground. She would be catious as to keep her heart off the training ground. Hopefully he wouldn't hit her weak spots

Dean laughs nervously. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. He knew this all too well, nonetheless, he was here to train her, not to flirt. Smiling, Dean would create two earthen based chairs for them to sit on. Genjutsu started out in a more discussion based style.

"Feel free to sit. I am Dean Nekura, by the way, don't think we've met before. I'll be teaching you about Genjutsu. What can you tell me about the field? Anything you've heard about it, what it does, how is it broken, etc. Anything that comes to mind...OH, and what's your name? Should have probably asked that first. >,>"

Dean says, as he grabs a small bottle from his bag.

Rebekah stares at the chair the man made with a straight face. It looked very uncomfortable and stiff, so a small mask of disgust covered her face for a mere second. Making a decision, she steps in front of the chair and swiftly sits down, her head held high. She then listens to the man who's name appears to be Dean. Dean Nekura. He had asked her about Genjutsu and to tell him everything in which she knew.

Not breaking eye contact in the slightest, Rebekah's smooth lips began to move.

"Like a lot of things and abilities, Genjutsu uses chakra in order to be performed. It happens to differ from Ninjutsu as the effects of Genjutsu are not real. They're mere illusions in which a person does not want to get trapped in, or else it's a sticky situation to get out of. Genjutsu happens when a ninja controls the targets chakra flow. The chakra flows through the opponents cerebalnervous system, which effects their five senses. Therefore, false images and illusions can be created. It tricks the body into believing that it is experiencing physical pain. Usually, Genjutsu requires eye contact to be made in order for it to be casted. I hear that audible Genjutus can be the most dangerous and deadly as it can trap the enemy from far away. Genjutsu requires precise chakra control, in which not many possess. Ways to stop Genjutsu would be...distrupting the targets chakra flow... often this is done by the target themselves. Also, pain not created by the Genjutsu will cause the target to snap out of it. Also, possessing Sharigan nearly renders Genjutsu useless. Strong smells also seem to be able to break Genjutsu."

Rebekahs English accent is strong.

"Rebekah by the way. My name's Rebekah Mikaelson."

She finally looks away from Dean, her eyes examining the trees with little interest.

Dean notices that Rebekah might be too much of a lady to actually sit on these rock based chairs. With a single hand seal, Dean would cover the rocky chair with a smooth covering, Soapstone, shiny and lightish blue in color. Hopefully she wouldn't slip off the chair, as that would be quite hilarious. Nonetheless, Dean would listen attentively to her explanation. Her accent was a bit odd at first, but it fit her all too well. Nodding his head in a classic Dean fashion.

"Not bad, got many points right like what it is, and how it works. Let me just fix the small mistakes I heard. Yes, possessing the Sharingan makes things a bit easier but Genjutsu is just as useful against them as others. Also, smells can't break Genjutsu, there are only three varities of things that can break Genjutsu, let's start there! Or wait, let's first talk about how it can be detected. If I placed you in a Genjutsu now, how would you know?"

Dean asks, swaying the bottle of alcohol in front of him.

Rebekah thinks long and hard, however it only looks like she is examining the trees. She doesn't like when her effort shows on her face, she did however like how comfortable the chair had become.

Rebekah then opened her mouth when she thought of an answer.

"How Genjutsu can be detected... and how would I know if I was placed in a Genjutsu?"

Rebekah had not an exact idea, but would attempt to answer his question.

"I would assume that the users surroundings would give them a hint that they are not where they seem to be. Such as, if the user is surrounded by water and grass, but the opponent put them in the illusion of a rocky environment... something as simple as a wave of water crashing against their feet.. or the sound of waves would make them come to realize that they are in an illusion, as no water is present in the rocky environment."

Rebekah gave her bottom lip a small bite as she waited casually for her sensei to process her reply.

Dean nods his head in reaction to Rebekah's answer. She understood Genjutsu quite well for someone who doesn't have any knowledge in the field yet. Dean remembered how bad he was at Genjutsu, an utter disgrace. Luckily, very few people would remember this, as Dean had now made a name for himself, concerning Genjutsu that is. Dean smiled, as he cleared his voice in an attempt to talk."

"Indeed, Genjutsu usually changes the natural to become a bit..odd. Something that isn't very logical at times, like snakes emerging from the ground but no indication of a summoning smoke or seal, or even the fact that heat can't be felt from a fireball conjured up with a Genjutsu. Some Genjutsu go even further, as to make it more difficult to figure out. One might encounter a foe who uses Force based powers, but also has a Genjutsu where he is able to manipulate it. How would one tell the difference? The environment is usually a good tell, feeling the Wind, taking the environment into account. However, once more, Genjutsu is a sly art. Some Genjutsu focus on making changes to the environment for that exact reason. Luckily, these are easily noticeable if you are paying attention. Be sure to always deduce a Genjutsu before even trying to break it, we'll practice this a bit later with some of my personal Genjutsu. Nonetheless, being a sensor also helps one deduce that something is wrong by noticing the disruption in the chakra flow, or if you are lucky enough to have that accursed Sharingan, it can see the chakra flow, so that makes it a bit easier. In your case though, you''ll rely on your wits and smart reasoning. Now.."

Dean says, as he points towards Rebekah.

"Say I place you in a Genjutsu right now, how would you break it? You now know how to know if its a Genjutsu, but how would you get rid of it?

Rebekah pulls out a kunai, her eyes never once leaving Dean's. A hard gust of wind traveled by, whispering kind words to her. Her hair blew back revealing her shiny pearl earrings.

"I could break the Genjutsu by inflicting pain to myself."

Rebekah placed the tip of the sharp blade to her skin, letting only the tip break through her whiteness. A pin drop off blood formed, and nothing more.

"Disrupting the chakra flow does the trick."

Rebekah knew there were a couple other ways, but this one seemed the most practical and quick way to get oneself out of an illusion.

Dean knew that Rebekah hadn't encounter Genjutsu before, due to her answer. It was a gruelling experience to be hit with a Genjutsu and have no way to break it. Luckily for Dean, Genjutsu was no issue for him. The Nekura had no problems with Genjutsu. Nonetheless, Dean took a scroll from his bag, and from it, he summoned even more scrolls.

"Not bad. However, pain is only one of the ways, basically disrupting the physical aspect of the spiritual and physical energies. See, Genjutsu disrupts the users' chakra flow which is normally in balance. Now, pain acts as a way of a spike in their chakra, bringing it back to its normal flow, thus breaking the Genjutsu in the process. Genjutsu, however, comes in different forms and ranks, signifying its complexity and strength. The more pain inflicted, the greater the spike. This means, the higher ranked the Genjutsu is, the more pain is required to break it. Here is a great guide to follow in order to know how much pain is needed to break a certain rank of Genjutsu."

Dean says, throwing a small scroll towards Rebekah. Written on it in an elegant font was the ways of breaking Genjutsu with pain, a simple guideline to follow.

D Rank Genjutsu: Chipping a Finger (like one does as he bites to draw blood for a Summoning Jutsu)
C Rank Genjutsu: Low level Physical Attacks, Bitting a chunk of your Cheek
B Rank Genjutsu: Low ranked Taijutsu/Freestyle
A Rank Genjutsu: High ranked Taijutsu, Stabbing Yourself in minor muscle, Cutting yourself, Breaking Smaller bones, Low level Burning/Voltage, Painful Cold
S Rank Genjutsu: EIG/Sage level Taijutsu, Breaking Bones, Deep Stabs or cuts, Medium Voltage/Burning, Extreme Painful Cold, Bitting your tongue off
"Nonetheless, pain is one of the three ways to do it. Yes, three. Secondly, one can alter the balance between the physical and spiritual, by disrupting the spiritual aspect this time. This is done by forcefully creating a surge in your chakra, by performing a technique where a large amount of chakra is released from all or many of your tenketsu or simple, the Kai technique (we'll come to this one later). For elemental techniques, it has to be one rank higher than the Genjutsu you are trying to be released from, for example, Chidori Nagashi is a surge technique, its A rank in power meaning it can break B rank and below techniques. The other Earth based technique that creates a coat of Earth from your body is a surge technique too, and is S rank, meaning it breaks A rank and below Genjutsu. Meaning a forbidden surge technique is needed to break a S rank Genjutsu technique..This is for elemental techniques, for normal, raw chakra techniques, the raw chakra technique has to be 2 ranks higher than the Genjutsu it is trying to break. A bit confusing, I know, if you have questions, don't be scared to ask."

Dean says nonchalantly, as he pours himself a drink in a small soapstone chalice he made before continuing with the final method.

"Lastly, altering one's chakra flow through the introduction of a foreign chakra into your body. A foreign chakra is anything that pours chakra into your body, but isn't your own chakra, things like entering Sage Mode (nature energy is the foreign chakra), having a Bijuu (Bijuu chakra is foreign), a Curse Mark when activated (again, nature energy is foreign). This can break any rank of Genjutsu cast upon you, except MS/EMS Genjutsu."

Dean then looks at Rebekah with a serious face.

"Remember, these are all ways to break Genjutsu, but you must first know that you are under one before using one of the methods. Anyway, last but not least, ever heard of layering a Genjutsu?"

Dean asks, drinking the last of his alcohol.

Rebekah takes in all the information with a calm face. It was a lot, indeed, but she was prepared. Being a smart woman, she easily found all the right places to store each different piece of information in her brain. If she ever needed to refer back to Dean's words, she'd know which file to open.

Rebekah raises her arm and brushes a piece of her golden hair back. She snuffs her face at his alcohol but makes no remarks.

All Rebekah did was elegantly shake her head at his question. She had not heard of layering Genjutsu.

"Good!"

Dean exclaims. He always liked going over Layered Genjutsu.

"Now, you understand Genjutsu based on what I told you, but Genjutsu layering is a bit different. Its basically the ability to mix Genjutsu together, two maximum, allowing you to deepen them or simply, enhance their effects. Two non-conflicting Genjutsu can be used together, however, something important. The higher ranked one has to be used first, then the lower ranking one, or simply, and equal ranked one. Why, you might wonder. Basically, if I used a lower ranking one first, and then a higher ranking one, the higher ranking one contains more chakra and hence, will flush out the lower ranking one, leaving only the higher ranking one. But by casting the higher ranking one first, and then a lower ranking one, the chakra is less and allows them to combine."

Ex: Genjutsu A - Creates Butterflies, A ranked.
Genjutsu B - Creates Squirrels, B ranked.

A + B = Butterflies AND Squirrels
B + A = Butterflies NO Squirrels
"Now, to break it, is just as I explained before, the sufficient method is needed equal to the higher ranked one of the two. So if I layer an A rank and a B rank, the total Layered Genjutsu is just A rank, and can be broken by what breaks an A rank genjutsu, breaking both at the same time. Pretty simple. Remember, casting two Genjutsu, and although you layer them, still takes two slots in the Time Frame, and thus, the second one can still be interrupted."

Dean says, looking at Rebekah, with his face now very serious.

"Any questions?"

Rebekah found herself understanding layering very well. You must use the higher rank first for it to work. If you use the lower ranked genjutsu first, the second higher rank will not be performed. Also, the second jutsu can still be interrupted.

Rebekah found herself smiling with an innocent grin. An innocent grin wasn't usually her choice of expression. So during the moments following her grin, she let it drop and returned to her normal straight face. Her exotic eyes landed on Deans.

"No questions."

She returns his serious expression.

"Alright, onto the techniques then. Now I want us to go through these techniques well so you understand it well. How would you like to go about it? I usually have my students perform it, give advantages and disadvantages of the technique and also how they would use it in battle. How would you feel would be a good way to start it off?"

Dean asks Rebekah, hoping that she gives him some insight as to how best she would like to learn his favorite skill.

Rebkah speaks her true opinion.

"From experience and personnel preferences, I love to perform the techniques. However, listing two advantages and disadvantages every time can cause me to carelessly repeat the same ideas over and over. And when that happens, training feels more like unwanted homework, rather than a fun learning process. I however don't want to change your ways of training as it's what you think is best. Maybe a performance and a lengthy paragraph of discussing the tech... Like what I like, dislike, strengths, weaknesses, questions, how I'd use it, etc. What do you think?"

Rebekah finds her body heating up due to anticipation.

Dean nods his head, he had to work on a few things in his training method anyway. This was a good suggestion, especially considering Genjutsu's complex nature.

"Alright, fine. Let's start with the first Genjutsu technique, and we'll go from there."

Dean says, as he grabs a scroll from his bag and opens it up, showing it to Rebekah, explaining the technique quite well.

Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10 (+5 if you use it double)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion over an area that allows him to manipulate the way an area looks to fool an opponent. He can only change the way the terrain looks, and not any other feature.

"Now this is a simple Genjutsu, but a useful one at that. You will cast a Genjutsu on your opponent, and disrupt their chakra flow. This allows you to manipulate their sense of sight and cause them to see changes to the terrain based on your preference, all up to your manipulation. This means you can change a desert, into a forest. Or even change the wet texture of the ground, to a dry one. Subtle ones are the ones that count, as the bigger, more flashier uses of the technique will easily be recognized and broken. This can be used to create anything that has to do with the terrain, though staying within the constraints of the technique itself, and nothing more. Try it out. On my clone that is, Genjutsu, unfortunately, doesn't work on me ~_~."

Dean says, as he creates a clone who simply awaits Rebekah and looks at her eagerly.

Rebekah shifts her eyes from the Dean to his identical twin. It was for a few moments that she stared at him. The Information on the technique cycled through her brain. She focused and tried to change the terrain by imagining them on the side of a rocky mountain. It wasn't quite working though and it wasn't surprising as it was her first time ever attempting to cast an illusion. On her third try, she nailed it. Concentrating on the yawning clone, she caused a malfunction in his chakra. Then, she saw the expression on his face change. He was surprised and looking around, stumbling on the rocks of the mountains in which he now thought he stood on.

Rebekah then turned to face her sensei, a question and her reaction in mind.

"When I cast illusions, do I also see them?

After her asking her question, Rebekah began to talk about the technique.

"This technique is indeed pretty cool. I can see it coming in handy as a sly, quick illusion. Easily can throw the opponent off gaurd. However, the low rank serves as a big disadvantage. Doesn't that mean it can be easily detected and disrupted? Also, I don't really like how only the terrain can be changed. The simplicity is great but I'd personally prefer an illusion of more detail and challange to the opponent. Also, changing the surroundings seems rather noticeable and doesn't really threaten the target. However, this technique would be used best if used to change subtle things. Like removing a water sorce, or turning the ground unstable.

Rebekah licks her bottom lip, relieving it from its dryness.

Dean listens to her very first explanation. Not bad, he thought. She understood the weakness of the Genjutsu, as well as where it could be strong. However, it was easy to deduce, such a simple illusion. Dean would bring out the big guns soon. Nonetheless, nodding his head, he answered her first question.

"No, however, you do know what the opponent is perceiving since you are the one casting it in the first place. Your chakra network is not disturbed though. Nonetheless, good job. Its useful when need be, very situational. Maybe you'll like the next one a bit more, especially if you want to get close."

Dean says, as he opens the scroll.

Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes five handseals, appearing to dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom petals. These petals surround the opponent, blocking his vision. This allows the user to mask his movement effectively.

"Now this baby, is pretty bad ass if used right. Except for the five hand seals that need to be formed to start the Genjutsu, its useful for quick encounters. After the formation of the five hand seals, the Genjutsu will be induced. This leads the opponent to see you dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom petals. See the resemblance to the first Genjutsu? Visual based once more, they only see, but their other senses are left intact. After this, the petals will aim to surround the opponent, blocking their vision. This happens in the illusion, as in reality, you are able to get to the opponent's blind spot, and deliver a deadly attack. Perhaps Taijutsu based, or something which is difficult to see overall, and even more so, now that their vision is blocked by the flower petals. Talk to me about it, and demonstrate on it with this clone of mine, who seems to have enjoyed the previous illusion you cast on him."

Dean says, as he looks at the clone before Rebekah.

Rebekah stands before Dean's oblivious clone. He stands there waiting for something to happen and as Rebekah slaps five handseals and nothing seems to happen. A cool breeze swipes by and Rebekah tries again. She focuses and stares at Dean's clone. She pictures herself moving with the breeze and before she knows it, she dissolves into a cloud of pink petals in which tornado around the clone. Meanwhile, in reality, Rebekah stands there and finds herself jumping into the air to send an attack at the blinded clone. She sends a fireball down onto him and he disperses into a cloud of white.

"I like that this genjutsu technique blinds the opponent. That is very useful. However, I think it is quite logical that a human cannot transform into petals, so I feel like the opponent would know that and snap out of the genjutsu. But with the various of Jutsu's in the ninja world, anything seems possible. I think the five handseals are quite a lot but are do-able. It's a great advantage that the user's movement will be masked however. I like the beauty and delicacy yet lethalness of this technique. I would use this technique to initiate a turn, as it would blind the opponent, and then I could do a surprise attack.

Rebekah thinks for a moment,

"However, I'm a little stuck on the concept of illusions. When I perform them, I am not subject to them, right? So I'll describe the technique, like turning into petals, but in reality I am in the same spot unaffected, right?"

"That is correct. You aren't the one really doing these things, but rather, it is what the opponent is perceiving. Though some illusions do require some for of movement from you to take effect, the craziness of the illusion remains within the illusion. Nonetheless, good job. Let us move onto the next one."

Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: The user does one handseal and throws a paper bomb at the enemy. The enemy, trapped in a genjutsu will see a clone of the user advancing upon him. As the paper bomb reaches the enemy, it explodes

"Now this is another pretty smart technique, where you will form a single hand seal, and induce an illusion. In the same motion, you will launch forward a single paper bomb. The opponent will see a clone advancing towards them, instead of the paper bomb, which acts as the perfect cover, and once it reaches the opponent, it explodes. For the opponent, this would be quite the surprise as they wouldn't expect the explosion. Though useful, it has its flaws. Think you can analyze it and find those flaws? Also, another clone for another performance shall do."

Dean asks, as he looks at Rebekah intently and simply creates another clone.
