Wind itself is natural flowing movements of the air. Wind, when not controled flows in a delicate balance and is unpredictable. Wind generally entails serenity and peaceful flowing movements, however it can be fast, powerful and greatly destructive. The key to taming wind is to understand the flow of wind and relate it to yourself and how the chakra flows throughout your body. The actual element of wind as it is in the Narutoverse posses the same properties of wind in the real with few additions. There are the standard, powerful gusts of wind, whirlwinds, typhoons, and sudden burst of preassure. However, there is also the added blade like qualities of wind. When using wind chakra, the shinobi can mould their chakra to flow against each other as if sharpening and it can add blade like qualities to the jutsu. It can also prove to enhance already sharp weapons by making them sharper and abilt to penetrate more. The added speed of wind plus the blade like qualities make this a powerful element all in it's own.
Wind has a natural strength against lightning due to it being a natural insulator for the element, while being weak against fire. Wind only serves to expands flames, however in opposition against fire the situation is, the wind doesn't have sufficient enough cooling potential to extenquish the flames as water would and the air would only would only sever to hinder fire slightly, due to the force being applied to it. However when combine heading in the same direction, wind proves very benificial to fire, allowing for the fire to expand and cover a longer and potentially wider plane. As far as water goes towards the other elements, Water and wind in conjunction with each other can be used to expand the range of the water and also give the suiton techniques more force, especially to large wave like water techniques. Wind can also increase the speed of projectiles. Solidified earth like projectiles can have an increased speed when wind is behind it. In all my interpritation of wind, in concjunction with the other elements is used to strengthen the force and speed of techniques.
The versitility with wind is that the nature poses create defense offense and supplamentary use through the use of powerful gust that can have heavy force behind it to block certian items, or even redirect their path. Theses gusts can also be used to dissorient opponents and cause minor damage through preassure. As well the blade like properties and the speed of wind also works to one's advantage with this element making release the techniques both quick and deadly.
Wind or Fūton is one of the five natural elements in the Naruto universe. "Wind" is the movement of gases between the o–zone layer and the earths surface, affected by solar activity and rising heat from the earth.
In the Naruto world, Fūton is weakest against Katon, as the oxygen is drawn from the wind and used to fuel the flames, and is strongest against Raiton as it is a natural insulator, being able to contain and restrict the sharpness of the Raiton.
Fūton is commonly formed by rotating the chakra into large gusts of wind that can be used to damage an opponent or to kick up dust and dirt from the ground to distract an enemy. Fūton can also be thinned and sharpened in cresent shaped blades with high cutting power or compressed into small balls that can be shot at high speeds.
Fūton can be combined with other basic elements to enhance the power of an attack or defence. When combined with Katon, the oxygen within the Fūton is used to enlarge the flames and the intensity of the heat, while combining it with Suiton will increase the overall strength of waves and tides or can be used to create giant rotating walls of water. Fūton is used in a few KG elements, the most popular being the being the Rain and Ice release.

The wind chakra has to be thin and sharp for it to be successful. Wind can come in many different shape and sizes e.g a breeze to a hurricane.
Its characteristics are somewhat thin,sharp and precise. Its strengths are its a natural insulator against lightning. So wind -> lightning.
Its weakness would be fire since oxygen is a fuel for fire, and without oxygen fire is not created.
Wind can be combined with fire to increase the size and power of the fire technique.
If using a water jutsu adding wind into the jutsu creates a water jutsu that causes great destruction.
Combining wind chakra with tools like kunai increase its range and cutting potential.
