I maybe wrong, but I think I didn't see any panel where kisuke was shown. Did kubo forgot him or what??? I was so waiting to see kisuke do some action....
I was hoping kisuke bankai soon, but after today chapter I dont know....
I could see Urahara's bankai being useful. After all, he said that it wasn't "appropriate for training anyone or lending them power". This seems to imply that it isn't a direct "force" type of bankai, which would've pushed Chad to develop further, but is rather more of a defensive rather than an offensive type in contrast to the abilities as he had shown before when his shikai was active.
However, Gerard's ability is about conversion. He converts the damage he had taken into "miracles" to which he can then use in combat, which would also negate any damage he had taken from before because the damage had already been converted into something else. A counter to this ability would be to not inflict him any damage at all obviously. We could take into account on what would count as being "damage" for Gerard in this case.
We saw that Byakuya's Senbonzakura petals would fall into the category of and be classified as damage. Using the introductory of that, it's only logical to assume that any technique that would be considered as life threatening by lacerating a user's body severely or using any type of projectile that would most likely obliterate the body would be converted into a miracle in Gerard's favor. An injury might as well fit that description.
If we twist the definition of the word "damage" for Gerard, we could use his own ability to work against him by manipulating him somehow into his own demise. Conveniently, we have Shinji among their group at the moment who could do such a thing.
Kubo might just go down the classic route of giving Gerard so much damage that his body could no longer be able to handle it, something of that sort. Then, there's the probability that his Vollständig will give him the ability to convert any damage inflicted upon him to increase his Schrift's capabilities besides applying it to his physical size. That would work the same way as well.
