I think you're overthinking the defence quite a bit. Thee world is heading towards nationalism and protectionism(the US is moving faster than most). Protectionist countries protect their own industries + reestablish failing ones for purposes of sovereignty. It's usually goes like this currency war, trade war(protectionism and exhoribitant tariffs) and then what some would call a hot war. The hot war happens in a three way scenario. The first to take out any rival to the reserve currency, failure at containment or feeling actually threatened by the other power. I don't believe the US will go down without a fight or pass the crown to China.

What statements do you have to support this?
This is rather my personal opinion but...their war is rather economic,not martial. They both understand how foolish it'd be to fight the other one.
China needs customers to sell stuff and american rich business men need to gain money from that.
Tho...in the end....
None of them gives a damn about anyone.

The purpose of protectionism is to keep money pumping in your own economy. It doesn't work if you cut ties with a country so rooted into your economy that you'd crash without them. Pretty much everything in the us is made in china or some asian country they exert pressure over. Then there's the part where China has 1 Bil people + nukes, which is probably the only reason Russia hasn't been attacked directly yet. Going to war with China is just all-around dumb.. It'd have a relatively small payoff in comparison to its consequences

Yes protectionism keeps money in the economy, but can't if you don't manufacture. Hence a drive to restore manufacturing will become necessary to create productivity. The US has been diverging with China for quite some time.

China's 1bill+ are partially oppressed people, and aged people. They also suffer from a large unmarried population who can't find partners, and they have a shit ton of unfunded liabilities. Their economy/country is doomed to fail, and we may even see an overthrow of the CPC. The US is helping facilitate that, which I support especially after reading about the shit they're doing to the occupied Uighurs.

The reason Russia hasn't been attacked is largely because Europe won't allow it. An invasion would be launched from Europe and Europe would disappear overnight. Also it's not really a threat to the US. On the other hand China is at odds with it's neighbours, is claiming sovereignty over the south China sea, and is the rising power challenging US hegemonic dominance. Also it's nukes are meh:/ it would be wiped out overnight if it tried to use even one.
