[Discussion] Will Smoker become an admiral or pull a Garp?

I don't think Oda will completely have Smoker's character parallel with Garp's. Like many others, I think Smoker will join the rev.'s eventually.

But looking to things as how they occur, when Luffy improves so as Smoker. He was the commander of the Logue Town base but when he chooses to go after Luffy and we see him in Arabasta he has earned the right to command a whole ship now and has been dubbed Captain and has a Vice-captain of his own tashigi.

Now when we see him again in Marine-ford and luffy has improved greatly he is now one of the elite Navy captains... After time skip he is Vice- Admiral and Luffy is a stronger Pirate. See how this goes? Smoker gains a new rank everytime Luffy gets closer to One Piece. And for the farewell

I think you have a weird way of defining fodderized. Since I remember the word fodderized was meant when someone was defeated without any effort.

Just goes to show the Smoker hate now is completely stupid. People ignore Smoker's feats in Punk Hazard.

- Dominated Law in physical strength
- Was able to fight Law when Law had his room on
- Showed Haki feats and could injure Vergo in a physical contest
- Tanked a full Haki hit from Vergo without any internal damage while Sanji was damaged by a non Haki kick
- Luffy had to run so fast fire caught behind him to keep up with Smoker in speed

But no most people now don't even try to interpret manga anymore and so automatically if one character loses it means there weak (even if that character lost on purpose)...Smoker is still IMO anyway stronger than Zoro (only just mind you) and it would take Luffy High - Extreme difficulty to beat him.

Anyway I suspect Smoker will do a Garp and continue to be a Vice Admiral since becoming an Admiral would restrict his freedom to chase Luffy, As much as I hate Coby, Coby will be a future Admiral and will one day be the Fleet Admiral. While Smoker will only ever have his own justice in mind and chase Luffy.

Also anyone who believes Smoker will join the revolutionary army are blind, Smoker is marine through and through he cares about his subordinates and the civilians of the world he will continue to protect them as a marine no matter what.

Law was constantly retreating and knew the only way to beat Smoker was blindsiding him to use metz overwise it wouldn't have worked look what happened when Law tried to use that attack on Doflamingo when he didn't use a strategy. With the amount of hype Law was getting in Punk Hazard the fact Smoker was pushing him in a 1 on 1 fight while trying to protect his men who were still in the room's space proved he's no joke.

A fight doesn't always go to the stronger one you know you have to take in many variables yes Law won but he was constantly being pushed back throughout the fight, also fights come down to ultimately a knowledge of one's power for instance take Sanji who had no idea of Doflamingo's power was crushed due to this, Smokers powers are relatively easy to understand since he is a logia however Law's are different even we the readers don't truly understand Law's powers so it's not surprising Smoker lost since I'm sure if he knew Law had the abilities to use a move like metz he would have protected himself much more.

But for arguments sake I'll give to the fact Law did beat Smoker however if it had been a battle with no running or and just plain strength and skill Smoker would have won.

Vergo was clearly trying he was using his Haki and his Bamboo stick that was everything Vergo had Vergo wasn't trying fully against Sanji but Vergo was trying against Smoker and Smoker wasn't trying to win he was out to get Law's heart right from the get go since he was in debt to Law, this is what I mean about people not reading the manga both Law and Vergo acknowledge that fact, Vergo noted Smoker wasn't fighting like he usually does. Also Smoker's best hit what do you mean that crappy filler scene where he punched Vergo in the face and Vergo withstood it? please if that's the case there's no debating with you since that didn't happen in the actual canon story there was only 2 panels really showing them fighting and in both Smoker got the best of Vergo.

The final scene in the Smoker vs Vergo battle was to show Smoker taking a hit in order to cause a distraction and give Law his heart back.

Not going to bring Doflamingo up? Why there was nothing shameful about that, getting beat up by a serious and angered Doflamingo is respectful, Jozu couldn't stop Doflamingo. Unlike with Sanji and even Law Doflamingo didn't go easy on Smoker and went for the kill straight away not to mention Smoker was still recovering from his fight with Vergo and had lost his weapon, it's like Law fighting without his sword against Doflamingo. Yet Smoker still didn't fear Doflamingo and even taunted him and knew he would get attacked when he said 'joker' indicating he knew Doflamingo's broker name.

It's understandable for people who say he doesn't care about rank, but in that one scenario he was rejecting the promotion because he didn't deserve it... he didn't feel that that was justice. But it's all up to how Oda decides to deal his cards honestly, nobody can call it.

If somebody offers him a promotion for a mission he's completed or pirate he's captured, then he'll be more inclined to accept it. But if he's tried again like he was back in Alabasta to sweep something under the table, then no, he'll break off and stay where he's at.

Actually Smoker said that before he entered the New World that rank is all that matters when he talked to Tashigi, I think its the episode where Luffy came back from marine ford and Luffy's bounty was increased to 400M, Smoker certainly said:"Tashigi, now all that matters is Rank"

Smoker barely is at vice admiral level , so until he becomes extremely stronger he has no chance at admiral . Garp on the other hand is at admiral level and just decided that he don't want the political pressures and drama of being an admiral
