I think it's a possibility, I am actually re watching from the beginning and currently im on episode 142, In this video from about minutes 4 to 5 Shikamaru and Temari are talking and the way they are talking it definitely seems like they have some sort of chemistry when Temari turns back and says "I'll see you next time you need to be rescued, just let me know and ill come. Ya big cry baby." and Shikamaru replies "you girls are all alike" as Temari turns and just starts laughing.
* to save any confusion this is episode 142 in the original series ( Part One ) when they are kids. Shikamaru had just become a chunin and returned from the failed attempt to bring sasuke back. You will find this conversation starting at 4 Minutes and ending at 5. when i saw this is when i started wandering about them coming together.
* The more i think about it their chemistry stays the exact same way almost flirting but secret about it by saying inside jokes that only they know about or would get.
