Yeah it's the same thing Sasuke does with Naruto. Except they grew into that purely on development, while those two (Bolt and Salad) have that relationship for the future.

He tells Sarada that he wants to help her, by being her guard, and protecting her well. But his end goal is becoming a shinobi like Sarada's father.

Naruto and Sasuke's relationship is purely made out of that too, with the bonus of Sasuke doing missions that other people can't. He's the only one that was capable of defending the Hokage if the time called for it (when Naruto got transported to another dimension). I-E following that Uzumaki/Uchiha logic, them two being the most capable out of the generation right next to Mitsuki, then Boruto will be the only capable of defending Sarada when an enemy appears whom the rest of 'their' generation can't tackle.
