In short you are saying that since she can punch him later on that will fix the problem here and it's alright. .. But does it really? I guess they are pirates and it's more realistic that they don't care about it.Brook is a pervert too, nothing much to argue on that. But the rest; Usopp and Luffy laugh over it because they think it's funny to have body switching between their friends, especially as it involves with pervert Sanji and his admired girl Nami since they'd known Nami would punch him soon enough for touching her body. Not that they're laughing at Sanji molesting her body.k:
@Bold: You don't even know what you're talking about. Sure he loves pretty woman, likes to flirt with them and appreciate their beauty. But fundamentally his respect for females isn't because of their appearances or there is No way he would've saved the female pig zombie back in Thriller bark. He genuinely respects them for just being a female, his love to a good looking female comes after that.Maybe. It won't be much of a deal either way.
I wouldn't have even recognized him in the first panel the way he was drawn in the latest chapter and only context and his companion enabled me to guess who he was... Seems it was too long since he appeared for the mangka too, not just us. :|
And art is not the only problem with him recently....
The guy gets entrusted with his team mate's body and he starts a series of actions molesting that body while the said team mate is infuriated. And the rest think it's funny...

Fishman arc and onwards his character has taken a nose drive. Whether he hits a female opponent back or not - does it even matter, when it gives an impression that he wouldn't mind molesting that body if he is assured the other person won't/can't hit back? It's not out of respect or consideration for the female that he withholds his punches. He just prefers that body unmarked and perfect condition for other purpose.
Oda needs to find something for him to do to get back up from this low.
No you don't want to see, let alone consider what I am talking about.@Bold: You don't even know what you're talking about.
Thriller bark was years ago. Where is the character development for Sanji? That chivalrous part of Sanji have taken a back seat since time skip and I find this respect you are talking about in his behaviour lacking these days.Sure he loves pretty woman, likes to flirt with them and appreciate their beauty. The few scenes with Nami were just there for comedic purposes and never he did the things he mentioned there. His respect for Nami's body could be seen even later on as he was careful not to put extra stress on it for the reason I've told before.
Must feel nice to be see the future. Was I suppose to just toe the line by keeping my mouth shut about what I feel about such depictions so we can keep on pretending that we all agree on everything and see the way you want us to see? Oh my so un-womanly of me to speak up in presence of men and rock the boat when everyone was suppose to just enjoy the happy hour. Should I fetch you another glass while smiling at a dirty joke that I don't like just because the guys think it was funny?Next thing we know you'd say that Robin doesn't care about her nakama because she has a tendency of speaking dreadful possibilities, or that Nami keeps on abusing the males in the crew even when it's only their for some amusement and Doesn't in any way means that she is a misandrist.
That part of Sanji hasn't taken a seat back. Him still being fond of women is the very proof of that since it's very origin is his respect for them, which he gives them irrespective of their looks. No you don't want to see, let alone consider what I am talking about.

Yeah comedy purpose- And I don't like that sort of cheap comedy objectifying women even when they are feeling uncomfortable and have not given their consent. It doesn't help that the characters skin tone has gotten lighter and body more vulptures and audience are being invited to focus on those body parts a little too much lately. I have every right to not feel good about the character whose job has become to draw attention of the reader just in case they missed it.
As I said it doesn't work for me. In my eyes Sanji needs something more than avoiding stress on Nami's body to redeem himself one of these days. To get attention by something more positive. I want his character to get better nor less than he was back then. Or one of the other crew members to stand up and remind him that it's getting out of hand- so that it's at least acknowledged to be a problematic scene. Why is that so hard to understand?
It's not future telling, it's just a statement made up on the same principles like what you said before about sanji and his character. I only took a comedic scene of nami and robin and warped a big part of their character and the nature of their actions into something else. Isn't much different from what you did. Though I don't think you agree with it.Must feel nice to be see the future. Next time simply give your opinion about the manga and not me. You don't know what I know or don't know or will say. I am overworked and cranky and not in mood to put up with extras.
Did I imply that? :'( Since I definitely didn't express it in such a way. I'm not saying it's alright, and being comical over it is of course not a problem solving either. I'm just correcting the context of the whole situation in manga panels you specifically pointed out. No one is seeing Sanji's sekahara as an acceptable behaviour, nothing to do with them being pirates and such (they don't even play romance among their crew members), obviously people loathe it including Zoro, Nami, basically female characters in major and us readers. No one like any form of sexual harassment. But like I've mentioned before, Usopp and the rest get their laughter fit because of the outcome (Nami got mad, beat Sanji to pulp), not the sexual harassment act itself. In short you are saying that since she can punch him later on that will fix the problem here and it's alright. .. But does it really? I guess they are pirates and it's more realistic that they don't care about it.
Anyway,I don't feel comfortable with this idea of sexual harassment being seen as just another joke and acceptable behaviour so it doesn't work for me.
I don't buy this argument. If someone is going to be portrayed as a gentleman in one sense and then he turns around and finds it funny to grope around women he works with - then he is not that respectful after all. That part of Sanji hasn't taken a seat back. Him still being fond of women is the very proof of that since it's very origin is his respect for them, which he gives them irrespective of their looks.
I don't like such comedy is one thing- But you forget that it's a regular part of the character he is and ignore how mistaken he is in believing that this kind of action is acceptable. "Oh I would never hit them but molesting them is alright". I certainly don't think that not hitting back females labels him 'gentleman' category when he is indulging in such behviour. It might be less annoying if people stop classifying him as such. You don't like that sort of comedy, that's your problem, complain about that and I won't even care because that's just how you prefer it. But don't take a major trait of a character and twist it's meaning into something Completely different and say that he has fundamentally changed over one comedic scene.
I wonder if you are taking the word 'job' in literal sense here. They are crew member so of course they serve some purpose. Tenten served a purpose too. But you shouldn't expect everyone to be satisfied with that. There has been fanservice with nami lately for sure, I won't deny that and if you don't like it, I can't do anything about it obviously. But the thing you are wrong about is that this has become their job. Are you in any way implying that aside from some fanservice they don't serve any purpose in the crew? Because if you are then you are utterly wrong.
Disagree. Especially seeing that people see him as more than a chef and fiercely compare him with someone like Zoro. Current Sanji is diminished. Unless writer has realized this already- I don't see him getting any better.Sanji hasn't regressed in the way you are saying he is, that's all I'm saying.
You tried to use completely silly scenario because you don't want to see the problem in that portrayal or accept that a line was crossed in those panels. It was much different than me because I wasn't talking in hyperbole like you. It's not future telling, it's just a statement made up on the same principles like what you said before about sanji and his character. I only took a comedic scene of nami and robin and warped a big part of their character and the nature of their actions into something else. Isn't much different from what you did. I was more referring to how Luffy seem to take it.Did I imply that? :'( Since I definitely didn't express it in such a way. I'm not saying it's alright, and being comical over it is of course not a problem solving either.
I get that part- Luffy is of carefree and doesn't take most serious methods that seriously. But somehow I expected some sort of personal growth in last 2 years not just Haki. And the teen reaction doesn't cut it..I'm just correcting the context of the whole situation in manga panels you specifically pointed out. No one is seeing Sanji's sekahara as an acceptable behaviour, nothing to do with them being pirates and such (they don't even play romance among their crew members), obviously people loathe it including Zoro, Nami, basically female characters in major and us readers. If objectifying woman is the driven element of problem regarding this topic here, then that's another level of matter to debate.
I probably would have been satisfied if he told Sanji to stop after he was done laughing. Such kind of body swapping is such a serious invasion of privacy and with all the superficial jokes the seriousness of the situation gets ignored. And there are certain things you do not leave for your crew to decide in a brawl.PS: Yet Oda seems to have taken the pervert's jokes too far at several points, I can see why you dislike it.
I feel Zoro did as well. Before Zoro had more character, now Oda has left him with a constant badass grin and badass one liners. His biggest flaws the fact that Sanji went from a smart-mouthed thug who took no shit and was passionate about food AND women to just women. Idc about his woman side anymore, Oda needs to bring back the passion he has towards food. Sanji is the only Strawhat to actually regress as a character.
