So masashi killed neji off maybe b/c he didn't know what else to do with his character. So I say let rock Lee use all 8 gates in an all out attempt to buy naruto some time.any thoughts?

Naruto- Main character plot armor.
Sakura- Plot armor.
Sai- I'm not that lucky.
Shikamaru- Too popular and his dad died.
Ino- Dad died.
Chouji- They never kill the fat kid. Waiting for his dad to get merked.
Hinata- Love interest. Plot armor.
Shino- He's been seen like three times in shippuden and not really popular enough to get the impact desired.
Kiba- Old Yeller died for his sins. Protected.
Lee- Too popular and basically interchangeable with Gai.
Tenten- Who would care.
Neji- Moderately popular. Plenty of other Byakugan users. Not essential to the plot. Kishi hit the murder trifecta with Neji.
