I think there is a large chance that what you said is true. Here is some interesting piece for Databook 3, Sakura's chara page, "Naruto" section:

I agree. But then again, They still have another daughter and they pretty much gave up on her (for the most part) as the future rep. of the Hyuga clan since she didn't live up to their expectations.
