On one hand I don't see yamato coming back but if he would come back I DON'T THINK it would be by hashirama my guess would be kabuto redoing all the wrong he caused by healing anko and yamato. The GEDO MEZO is now the jubii monster so therenis nothing to power the zetsu clones and kabuto never killed which means kishi has left that option open just incase he prolongs this manga

I don't want to make any assumptions, but what we do know for a fact is:

1)The usefulness of Yamato to Tobi and Kabuto ended as soon as the Zetsu clones were deployed.
2) The original Zetsu that was left to guard the cave was destroyed by Sasuke.
3) The Gedo Mazo, which may have been siphoning his mokuton chakra for the clones, is no more.

To my understanding, the only thing keeping Yamato in that cave may be a combination of Kabuto's anti-mokuton poison and Obito's genjutsu. If Yamato is able to break the genjutsu, there is a chance that he can break free from his restraints and join the fight. Maybe he is already on his way. However, this may all just be wishful thinking and speculation, and he and Anko may still be competing for the "worst prepared to capture Kabuto despite being a member of the team tracking him." Sai is the only one out of that three man team that is still active.
