The WG covered up what happened in Alabasta and gave Smoker all the credit. News of that even reached the NW as we saw Doffy in Dressrosa with a newspaper talking about it. In Dressrosa however, everything became public knowledge.

Oh i knew that well enough. That and Doffy's case are different, as you've known. WG could do some cover up story for what happened in Alabasta, but not this one when it got spread around in neighboring countries. Then again, technically there were only citizens in 3 related countries watched this news, so perhaps WG would do something about it. But the press probably would say sth like "Pirate Alliance Heart & Strawhats defeated Shichibukai Doflamingo, the former King of Dressrosa!" without other details about the real tragedy and WG could push the blame to them pirates for wrecking up the place to the rest of the world.

Thats what I thought at first, but does Akainu really care about the WG and their demands? I reckon he wanted to magma fist Doflamingo himself but was ordered to do nothing against him from the WG. Ultimately, it damages the image of WG and maybe he would support Fuji on this, in secrecy of course.
