Why do people outside of Japan(I read somebody where Japanese people don't do this) over think a current situation. Like how Tobi couldn't be Obito, but Madara or one of Madara's brother. I mean the signs were pretty obvious. Also the thing about the foot, I mean this one wasn't as obvious, but it was pretty strong that it was Kabuto. They're setting themselves for disappointment.

People denied Tobi was Obito because the signs/hints were too obvious. Not to mention that the reason that Obito turned evil was obvious as well. I guess people wanted more mystery.

Part of it is liking to make theories and see the many different possibilities of something, which also works well when things are left in suspense or so open ended.

The other part is people are stupid and don't like to believe the obvious. Something being so obvious makes them feel stupid so they try to disprove things and come up with any reasoning that's against the obvious.

Somethings are just so simple and obvious, and maybe I think simple thoughts so something like Tobi being Obito was obvious (for me it being hairstyle and the name [huge give away for me, especially when I was like... 11 or 12]). Same with Minato being Naruto's dad. I assumed that the moment I saw Minato because of his looks being like Naruto.
