Why Zetsu is awesomeness:
First of all, Zetsu was created from Harishima's DNA(White Zetsu). This gives him EPIC spying abilities. His Mayfly is damn near untraceable! It also allows him Incredible defense because Instead of blocking, he can just seep into the ground. It's largest gain is its offense. Harishima's dna allows Zetsu to create multiple clones of himself to bombard and overwhelm his enemy, and White Zetsu can use his Sporification technique to suck the chakra out of his opponent.

Zetsu also contains part of Madara in him(Black Zetsu). This gives him amazing stratigic abilities, good offence,the ability to record what he observes, one badass attitude, And For all you Obito/Tobi fanboys, Obito wouldn't even know were to go without Zetsu's Madara side! -3-
In conclusion, Zetsu=Awsome!

Black zetsu was the will of kaguya, whatever that means, i guess she can just create life spontaneously, his actual abilities werent ever really shown and white zetsu are just drones of people who never escaped IT. They were both more like henchmen not the main antagonist.

If hagaromo can create Bijuu out of nowhere, Kaguya, the progenitor of chakra creating black goo that can talk isn't that difficult or hard to imagine
