SSL certs does not cost much. All kind of sites have it nowadays.

It's really not needed on NB, only thing it could be used for is payments for premium, and that is done through paypal which has secure connections. Unlike facebook, there is nothing that will tie your name to this site.

Then I suggest that you don't use your college network on our site if you suspect people doing that, that is not something that is usual, it's up to you individually to protect yourself against things like that.

Well, umm. I don't think that we have such private talks here, and sniffers cannot be Naruto lovers because Naruto-lovers cannot resist NB, so sniffers will be bored to death here. I don't think encryption is required and as Zise said.
