If you dont know why we like naruto uzumaki then you fail. Its like tobi not understanding why nagato betrayed him, YOU FAIL

I agree he got the best perk being an uzumaki and getting the nine tails but if the series were named itachi and he got all the perks we wouldnt have anything to watch because itachi would breeze through everything
To all the Naruto fanboys, this is how it feels when people hate on your favourite character. You guys do it to Sasuke all the time. By reading this thread you probably find it dumb and annoying that he's batching/hating your character. When you "say he's the main character", do you really think he's the only one. Ill name one... Sasuke.
Anyways. I don't hate Naruto. But its good that you pointed out some things about him so fanboys can see that Naruto isn't perfect.

Why do you even read the manga, if you dislike him that much?
I really hate "cool" people. Imagine them in real life, and you'll see, that Sasuke e.t.c. are the anime-version of all the people you used to mindlessly hate in school. Yes, they're those douches you'd like to punch while you yourself keep quite when they start mocking you.
I was bullied in school, thank god it's over. Why? Simply, I'm not in school anymore, but even if I was, I wouldn't be bullied. I started training (actual Ninjutsu, yes, it exists) and now am kinda ripped (though I slacked off during winter).
And that's the point: Naruto is a loser, with no talent, stupid and useless.
This is what makes him special, and to me, so much better than all other characters.
Yes, Rock Lee works pretty much as hard, but that doesn't mean Naruto is not awesome, it just means that Rock Lee is awesome too, it's just that he didn't develop that much.
And one more thing:
I identify myself very much with Naruto, as I was bullied....you know what? I still never had a girlfriend, even though I'm not an ugly fatty anymore. Simply, because I was so fat in my school days, that no one would ever talk to me. This lead to me being exactly the same thing as Naruto: Loud. A jerk, that seeks attention. No one would take me serious, because I kept doing silly bullshit (pardon) and was a real clown. The fact I was "stupid" and not good in school didn't actually help much here. This lead to me never talking to a girl, which is why I still don't know to approach one, which leads to me not having a single female friend up to this point. Even when I started my training I was the Naruto of the group, meaning: The talentless idiot who couldn't do a thing no matter what. Trained a whole year to be the same level as my partners.
Yeah yeah, I get it, this doens't have to do much with the topic anymore, right?
I just wanted to show you, why I identify myself so much with him, and show you, how serious I am when I say "I am just like him". I have never been able to identify myself with a character so much.
There are just a whole bunch of lessons that can be learned from this one single character.
And now, let's face the truth:
90% of people in this forum were unpopular, or have been bullied at least once in their school, and obviously would have been hated by people such as Sasuke, if he was a real person that is.
I would even go as far as to say, that the guy who opened this thread belongs to that 90% as well.

Well im just gunna take a wild guess here and say your a sasuke fan. if so let me put this in perspective for you:
1: Naruto has never had anything given to him and had to work for everything
2: Sauske just beating naruto in the first part was plot since naruto didnt even use the other 6 tails
3:Also its called a manga for a reason its supposed to be entertaining so what if naruto is silly sometimes it brings some light compared to sasuke and his depressed ass

There was so much fail in that post but this one stuck out the most. Hollow words? Does he ever give up? No he doesn't. His nindo is something that I would like to have myself.
Also your implying that he has to have certain characteristics for people to like him and that's never the case. People can be liked no matter how they act or what they do. And Naruto is a likeable character with or without the characteristics you mentioned.

The will to never give up no matter what, the drive to overcome any obstacle, any burden, even when all hope is lost. The undying fire that drives Naruto. He is one who truly has Legendary Guts. When I was young when the show started airing on Toonami, Naruto gave me my own way to live by; that is, to never give up. I live by it every day.

Cool story bro, im a mix between naruto and sasuke and i didnt know bullying was that much of a major thing in schools. Bullying starts when no one speaks up and the average person stands idly by and watches on. SHAME ON THEM :flaw:

First off he is the main character... And is in almost every episodeOk, this may turn to a flame thread, which i didn't want. Please give reason peacefully and with logic.
Why fans of Naruto(anime) like character Naruto Uzumaki? I mean, he is such a lame character.......Now, i know people are gonna welcome me with troll pics and say "you suck", naruto hater, you fail, etc. But really, there must be a reason why there is a large fanbase of uzumaki naruto.
Now, you people may say,-
1. he is cool:- Oh? is he? how? in first part, he farts, eat like wolf, drools, a total clown and lacks even a bit of knowledge. In second part, he is overconfident, impatient, and just the opposite of a ninja. How he is cool?
2. He is powerful:- Man, there are many people powerful like him, lets say, Kakashi, Sasuke, Pein, Sasori, Deidara, Itachi, Kisame, Gaara, Muu,............And i can go on, now you would say he beated pein, then i would say thats pure plot. he is no special.
In first part, he beated Kiba, how? he farted U_U Wow, what a technique! then he defeated neji, who trained his ass off compared to naruto who just ate ramen and slept. there are many others, or MOST of his fights, which are won by total plot no jutsu.
3. He is intelligent:- Wow wow, stop bro, he is the most idiot character of the series. He is totally dumb. In first part, he was not able to write a single letter in test. He lacked even 1% knowledge in anything. In second part, he is still dumb and a extreme slow learner.
4. He is talented:- How? he learnt shadow clone jutsu at young age? He did that from secret scroll of hokage, where the technique was simplified, still, he used drastic amount of chakra to make clones.
Then you will say he learnt rasengan in 1 month. Quite short time, isn't it? NO. Kakashi directly copied it, no training. About minato, he created it, and of course creating a jutsu takes time and idea.
And, he learnt Rasenshuriken. huhh......You would say Kakashi was able not able to mix rasengan with lightning. I would say lightning does not suit rasengan, wind do. Now if i say mix rasengan with earth chakra, what you would get? it is not possible.
5. He is fast:- Bless Kyuubi for that power, base naruto is slower than chouji. And oh, you may say that Kyuubi is like sharingan/byakugan. They too are blessed with ocular powers? WRONG! Naruto is from uzumaki clan, whose speciality is vast special chakra, not Kyuubi kekkei genkai.
6. He is ambitious:- Man you say that shitload of screaming " i would defeat you", " i will save you sasuke" or " i will not give up", bullshit with hollow words! he just need to get pawned by someone powerful, but unfortunately, Kishi's plot making saves him again. He wins 50% fight with talk no jutsu.
7. He is Hardworking:- Well, it seems that way, but not totally. There are many who work and train harder than him. For example, rock lee trains 3x more than Naruto, Neji, Sasuke(yes, i said it, he is not handed everything)
Kakashi, Gai, etc are hardworking as much as naruto. Moreover, if seen, Naruto eats ramen and sleeps.
And also, many times, his ass was saved by others when he ran blindly into trouble. If he was not saved, he would have get killed nearly infinite times.
About liking other characters, i would describe why people like them briefly-
1. Minato - Fastest shinobi alive, cool, heroic, insanly powerful.
2. Jiraya- funny, powerful, famous, knowledgeable.
4. Kakashi- Humorous, Very powerful, fast, talented, cool, badaas!
4. Itachi-Insanely powerful, genjustu master, MS master, intelligent.
5. Gaara- Powerful, cool, badass.
6. Nagato- Insane doijutsu(rinnegan), extremely powerful. badass.
......................................................etc.
Please post with reasoning and again, And also, please don't bring other people(kakashi, sasuke, itachi, nagato) to answer, of you have not got any good aurgument.And please again no flaming.
2. He does train a lot... They just dont show it, like when jiraiya trained him before the chunin exam finals for weeks and he would train in between missions or how about when he trained everyday for three years straight to perfect his abilities.
3. Saying that he is a slob, has bad table manners, and is dumb is a horrible reason to say he is not cool... You know who else has these traits, yeah thats right the most popular anime character ever, Goku. The character inspired the many famous characters that are out today
4. He beat the shit out of neji and was still ready for more after that, he beat pain and if you say thats plot no jutsu then sasuke must be a master at that since in part two he was basically killed three times in his fight against bee, but survived cuz kishi bestowed mystical powers amongst taka, wouldve tied danzo if tobi wasnt there, itachi allowed sasuke to beat him, and only won against deidara from element advantage
5. He is not book smart or very inteligent, yet he is still able to Think his way through fights and is able to identify his opponents weaknesses making him one of the most instinctual characters in the series. Many characters in the chunin exams were unable to answer the questions including sasuke... Everyone got answers from cheating, but naruto didnt have the skills to gather information like that. And again sasuke was only able to do that through his kekkai genkai
6. Even tho he has the kyubi doesnt mean he his abke to use its abilities automatically. He had to train to control that
7. It didnt take a month to learn rasengan
8. Kakashi is able to use all elements through sharingan so technically its possible for him to copy rasenshuriken but he cant use it since it would fry his charka points and wont be able to use hand signs again
I like naruto because I can relate to him. I first watched the OVA 1. Naruto was a little punk like I was, he did stuff to get peoples attention. He wanted to do acknowledge by the people around him but he got not respect. They looked at him like garbage. As much as he wanted to do well in school but couldn't get it together. He was used by some to do something bad. He was able to turn it around and in the end was acknowledged by someone he looked up to. In the scene with Naruto standing behind the tree hiding while Iruka Sensei tells Mizuki all about how great Naruto is and that he acknowledged him. and it cuts back to Naruto sobbing... I cried alittle! From then on I watched Naruto. Either from a great site like this one or from a Torrent download. I'll be here cheering for Naruto until this manga ends. Naruto is the underdog that has become the hero. Now he is going to use what he earned from all that hard work and kick some serious butt.
