If it were under the protection of big mom who is feared and one of the 4 emperors and why didn't the island call big mom to save them if they were under the "protection" of her

Because Big Mam, is a piece of sh*t pirate. She doesn't really care about the welfare of Fishmen Island. She allowed the island to keep her flag up as a deterrent to other pirates who would like to attack.

But Hordy Jones & Vander Decken don't care. They believed that they could beat her up as well. ​

Big mom couldn't give two shits about fishman island. He just let's them use her flag for protection, but when it comes down to it Hody and the Fishmen all know that if something happens Big mom would be in her little cave eating chips.

big mam does care about fishman island as a matter of fact.......but only because of the sweets otherwise yeah she couldnt give a rats ass

even if the SH's and the royal army failed to stop hody and CO. they would have been screwed anyway because of big mam not getting her sweets Hody was basically doomed to fail
