Just out of curiosity...who made this rule? Because, it sure wasn't a Mangaka.

What about cases like Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop, and Wolf's Rain?
And sure those series are anime based at first. So anime is the canon one here. But in the case of mainstream shonen series(OP, Bleach, FT, Naruto etc) they all started form msnga, from one shot into full story series.

Some people(Indra etc) here being specific and not talking generally. So they apply that idea on Naruto/Boruto series only.

And who made this rule? No one made a rule that manga is always the canon one. The rule here and I think most people can understand it is that which format being used first to tells the story, manga or anime?

Like Digimon adventures for example it started as an anime first so if someone want to write a manga adaptation of it and he/she want to follow anime storyline/ plot 100% therefore the canon storyline here is anime unless the writer says that he/she wanted to write different storyline for Digimon adventure manga and not an adaptation. With different starting and ending. So both can be canon bcuz its a variation. And Digimon never shy from different kind of stories but still all of them are canon stories.

I see,so you all are just arguing fan opinion then...since the owners of Naruto/Boruto do not fully clarify what is 'Canon'.

What comes first is the canon.

The manga usually comes first and the anime second.

But if the order is reversed that makes the material that came first the canon and anything after filler.

Like dragon ball super

Yeah then gaiden did the same

So? it was epic af and one of the best

The manga was recapping an already existing arc and changed retconned things. if the anime did that they call it filler but if the manga did the SAME EXACT thing they call it canon SMH
:lol some of u call last is filler movie cuz its movie but if it were manga u would've never said that

It' s Ikemoto' s and co work, not Kishimoto' s.And those guys are not hiding the fact that they will not respect Kishimoto' s previous work, they can completely change what they want to.
Momo' s version of Ikemoto and co is a clear f..k off to Kishimoto' s work.

The Boruto movie is canon to Kishimoto' s story, and the manga covering the movie is filler to Kishimoto' s story.
The Boruto movie is filler to Ikemoto' s story.

No matter how much money is given to Kishimoto to say that the Boruto manga is amazing, consistant with the Naruto manga, canon, with an art rivaling his :lmao:...
If the new content contradicts the past canon content, the new content is wrong.
Ike clearly contradicted Kishi' s previous work=Ike' s story is filler to Kishimoto' s story.
Ike' s manga will not be consistant with Kishimoto' s story.
