Was he really created just for that reason?
Sai was a failed attempt by Kishi to introduce a significant new Konoha classmate midway through the series. However, his character was never that interesting, and came off as annoying. After his introduction arc, Sai was more or less sidelined. Honestly, to me, Sai feels pretty intrusive in most of the scenes he's in, like his presence is completely forced (especially when he tries to act like he's a legitimate part of Team 7).What does he contribute to the story other than making Sasuke look better by being a bad clone of him?
