I actually think that when people die, they don't actually meet other people that are dead, they just have like their own personal heaven or some shiz like that in the NV.
Such as when Kakashi died, he saw his former team in the afterlife, but Obito was never dead, but Kakashi THOUGHT he was, therefore seeing Obito there.
That being said, I do not believe that that was the actual Rin, but merely a projection of Rin made up by Obito
