Why was Naruto sent on missions?

Well it is debatable as Naruto didn't die in these missions, nor did he get captured while on these missions >_O

Yeah obviously because he's the main character. The action itself isn't smart. He would have died many times if it weren't for many things.

You have a point. It doesn't seem logical to let Naruto leave. However, it wouldn't make for much of a story if he never left.

I'm not specifically talking about the war ROFL. He was getting sent on missions all the time during part 1 when he was still weak.

im pretty sure somewhere it said thats why they made kakashi his sensei.

Its a trust thing from Tsunade, remember the three Sannin meet up when Naruto said "I will not die until I am Hokage!!" and winning the bet, also. That is the reason.. Naruto WILL NOT DIE. XD

Oh, sorry my bad. But still, if Naruto didn't train out of Konoha, he wouldn't be as strong as he is now and he wouldn't have matured.

Jinchurikis are supposed to play a huge role in a village's military force. If the jinchuriki of a village happened to die they would lose about 50% of their military power. So why was Naruto was Naruto getting sent on missions all the time risking his life?

Wouldn't it be safer to just keep him in the village in security and train him and sending someone else instead?
That's what Kuwogakure did with their jinchuriki, Bee wasn't allowed to leave the village. To me it is a wiser move.

Konoha is dumb.

He needs the experience:)

Seriously? All of Naruto's training were in a safe place. Ex: Sage mode, Rasen shuriken, the time-skip with Jiraiya etc..
He didn't have to risk his life to get stronger like when he went on his first mission against Zabuza or when he went to rescue Sasuke with some fodder chunnins.

Exactly. Plus, he wouldn't have made any of his bonds and chances are he would feel pressured by everyone's hatred, resulting in him never getting the acknowledgement he wanted and going the bad way, just like Sasuke.

By having him go on missions, that fact that Naruto is a Jinchuuriki wouldn't be thought of by enemy shinobi. Most Jinchuurikis are kept inside their respective villages, and as a result other villages know where to find them. If Naruto hadn't gone to Mount Myoboku during the Pein invasion, he would have likely been captured. Even if he stayed at Myoboku, Pein had learned that Naruto was there. These places are not impossible to find, they are just very unlikely to be found.

Yes but that was needed. Besides he was getting helped and assisted by Bee.
He had to take control over the Kyuubi one day or another. Btw BM didn't require any training.

Then how do you get stronger if you don't risk your life? o_O Was he supposed to just learn new jutsu without actually using it in a battle?

This.

Naruto is reliable enough to complete his missions when he takes it seriously. Tsunade made the better decisions that runs in a long-term. The elders were only focusing on what must be done at the present, but doesn't realize what Tsunade was really planning. She pretty much prep Naruto to be Hokage by senting him on missions. By completing those missions, he has a better insight of how the system works. That way, when he can become Hokage, he pretty much will know how to deal with other villages.

Besides, he needs to earn some money anyway.

Lee did learn a bunch of stuff by just staying in the village and practicing his taijutsu.
He doesn't necessarely have to test his rasen shuriken on an opponent for it to be strong and complete.

That's what I'm saying. You can't get stronger unless you go out there and fight instead of hiding in the village.

Because Naruto is not a tool of war, but a ninja of the Village Hidden in the Leaf. Tsunade does not see him as a weapon.

Also, I hear talk that you are telling a user that you are going to mass neg rep them? If that's true, very shameful behavior.
