[Spoilers] Why was Ichigo sent back again?

I didn't really understand why he was sent back for one night just to be sent to the soul palace again.. can someone clarify?

Didn't the Zanpakuto guy say that he would send him back to see if Ichigo changes at all? Now Ichigo wants to go get revenge (I guess), and the guy (forget his name) is willing to make Zangetsu.

That's my best guess.

As this guy said ^. Ichigo's heart wasn't firm and he did not have the right resolve at the time. Guess he needed more motivation/reason to kill Juha Bach though I'm sure he should have plenty of reasons to.
