[Discussion] Why was Garp in the navy??

everyone is saying cause of dragon gap should be wanted or jailed.
during garps youth pirates were free to do what they wanted
so this made garp like coby charater. notice when garp hears coby talking about luffy being he friend he takes him under his wing.
luffy doesnt care marine or not so it was like sending his grandfather his replacement.
but back to garps childhood this is why he hates pirates. but over the years he has respected a few. like roger.
we also know that the marines will try to give the people a marine hero. this is garp. just cause he was at the war of the best when he throws one punch the marines get all hyped up.
now we know the marines like to exterminate blood lines. they will also not let garp just leave cause he is their hero. that is why hes back at luffys home town as a recruiter. if garp left and said fu(k the wg he would also become a wanted man to try and pull out dragon. but the people that garp has saved over the years would know the gov is full of it.

Well, here is my take on it. The D. is the enemy to the CD. Maybe its similar to Pharaoh and Moses. There was a prophecy saying that a D would wreck them, but instead of killing them all like pharaoh they decided to let it play. As killing seemingly random people would not be a good look. As we have seen WG isnt exactly huge on very public executions, why else would impel down house so many prisoners. Also what excuse would they have for the missing persons or executions of people who as far as the public is concerned are very good people? If they let the D. live and do that they want in the beginning then later if they turn bad they have proof of there evilness for the public, and if they turn good then they dont have to go through the trouble. Which imho is the better path in there situation so that they never have to look like the bad guys, even in Aces death they were not in the wrong. Ace was a criminal by breaking their laws and had to be executed, he was also the son of what could be the strongest and most influential pirate in current history and took the same path.

Garp joined young and has nothing to do with what Ace and Luffy did. This has been stated by a previous user. But the fact remains that Garp is a Hero and the WG wouldnt want to dirty its hands, if your a hero your a hero if your a criminal your a criminal. At least the WG has a sense of logic. Why should Garp be jailed for the actions of Dragon, Ace, or Luffy? Ace would have been killed because his father was a criminal and not just a common criminal either but a symbol of piracy and a direct opposition to the WG. Garp has no such problem with his parents and as it stands is still a great figure to the marines.

2) dragon come to know about it from garp or same source.

result :
1) dragon think that, why we follow WG when they are going wrong way and also argue with garp about it.
2) for the safety of his child, garp appose him and tries to convince that, be in WG.
3) dragon says, if you not coming with me then, don't get in my way.

after some time -
1) garp decide to help his from inside...bcz must need inside man!
2) man(swordsman like) with garp seems dragons friend and active spy and garp aware of it too.
