Why was borutos jougan flickering?

We saw initially boruto couldn't awaken it unless the nue was around. But for some reason it flickered when using the sword either something there has similar chakra to the nue or boruto will slowly learn to force activate it.

Boruto's eye activated once when he was looking in the mirror w/o the Nue as well

But that was after seeing the nue in his dream so the nue was still the trigger

Well it's a dream, if it was strong enough to appear at the thought of the Nue, it isn't strange to believe that it can come on for a second if he's in danger or needs help. IMO

It wasn't just a dream toneri literally visiting him in his sleep showing him real visions

But who knows maybe the authors just tricking us to think it's due to the nue

It can obv activate without the Nue.

I wonder if it gives him hella amount of chakra since he already used shadow clones nearly 3 times, 4 times Gale Palm and his chakra was absorbed by Samehada and Bloody Mist

Most likely since he was low on chakra and it seems he might of gave some to kagura aswell

The Jougan was responding to the large volume of chakra that was being used. It responds to any large/powerful chakra being used; the purple "ghost chakra, the Nue being transported etc.

Gale Palm is a basic Wind technique and Shadow Clones return their chakra once dispersed.

Yeah I'm thinking he activated for a chakra boost seems even yaguras chakra was replenished aswell

As for the nue it's clear sight of its chakra activated the jougan and I think it's explained that it's due to its negative energy

Shadow clones do not in fact return the chakra once dispersed, once that chakra has been used that is it, otherwise Naruto himself would not have a single problem with chakra he would just go non stop with all those clones returning, no what they return is the knowledge they wielded
