I like him because he was my favorite character in the begining of the series. He was so awesome against Gaara in the chuunin exams (one of the first times I saw him, as I came in a little late in the series), and then I later saw his awesomness in the Forest of Death with the curse mark. And I'm not going to bail on my long-time favorite character just because lots of people call him gay/overpowered.
