the other one canon and the other one is non canon? or both the same? its just that the new one is better quality?

One is from 1998 and the other is from 2011 (flawless one)

2 versions but they are literally the same. 1998 Hunter X Hunter haves an older art style animation, the 2011 one haves a more modern art style and animation.

one is from 1999 and ran until 2001. It was created by Nippon animation. It only ran to the middle of the yorknew arc so it left on a stupid cliffhanger :lol. But nippon released some ovas to finish up the arc. Then they took a break to release ovas of the next arc called Greed Island, they completed greed island and have stopped animating HXH since then.

The other was created by madhouse and ran from 2011-2014. It's much better than the old ones and nearly flawless. I assume they still have the license because they still make art for the series (in mobile games). 2011 ran all the arcs it hasn't covered the most recent arc.

I don't know if I'd say more attached. 99 only added a few scenes in the early parts of the exam however 2011 completely omitted the scene with Kite saving Gon before he caught the fish, it was that scene that Gon learned of his dad and wanted to find him, it's that scene where Gon gets his fathers hunting license to begin with. Leaving that out was a mistake.

HxH by nippon animation actually completed Greed Island and stops right before Gon and Killua meet Kite.

Yeah 2011 has no filler. But I've seen episode comparisons, while 1999 certainly is guilty of more fillers it had some scenes from the manga 2011 skipped over and in some aspects it was closer to the manga at times. But of course 2011 would be the closet to manga if I had to pick
