Why the Byakugan is better than the Sharingan!
To begin, I will like to state that this is not a, Hyuga is better than the Uchiha type thread - this is a thread explaining why the Byakugan is a better dōjutsu to possess than the Sharingan. Also this is not the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan or the Mangekyou Sharingan - this is the pure two/three tomtoe Sharingan.
Sharingan
Abilities:
-You can see chakra flow and its color which gives you the ability to differentiate different chakra types etc.
-You can theoretically copy any technique other than KKG
-You have a higher level of clarity and perception than the average eye - you can see subtle movements etc.
Pros:
-It is kind of like a mix of the Byakugan and the Rinnegan
-The abilities it grants you
-Usually have a higher proficiency in genjutsu
Inbetween:
-Grants you the ability to gain the MS and possibly later the EMS
Cons:
-Spurs hatred into your body
-Usually is awakened after a traumatic event
-If you're a non-Uchiha it can cause heavy strain on your body
Byakugan:
Abilities:
-Near 360º field vision
-You can see through objects and have the ability to see nearly all barriers
-Have a 50m radius field vision which can increase to up to 10km
-Ability to see chakra, chakra flow, the chakra circulatory system & the color of the chakra
-Higher level of perception and clarity than the Sharingan
Pros:
-Abilities it grants you
-Seems easier to control than the Sharingan
-You're born with this power
-Gives you the ability to use the Gentle Fist Strategy
Inbetween:
-None
Cons:
-None other than possibly being targeted to attain the eyes
Explaining why the Byakugan is better than the Sharingan:
For one, for non clan members the Byakugan is a much better as it doesn't drain your chakra as much. The field vision discussion - whatever the Sharingan can do in this category the Byakugan can do better. You can see chakra? Well the Byakugan can do and more. You can see subtle movements that the naked eye can't see? Byakugan can do it a lot better and with better accuracy.
Summary: The Byakugan is better than the Sharingan in field view, chakra vision abilities and clarity.
Next off you get to the proficiency it grants you. The Genjutsu/Ninjutsu vs Taijutsu. Here we will have to dive into the Uchiha/Hyuga parts. The Uchiha cast excellent first class genjutsu but what will they do against the Byakugan user who simply closes there eyes. Unless you have Shisui's MS which in this debate is not allowed, then the genjutsu argument is over. Copying techniques - what really does the Byakugan have against this? Well they have there ability to sense chakra and have near perfect radius vision but the main thing -Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven which the Byakugan user can learn. This little buggart is like a mini Shinra Tensei and has been described as the Ultimate Defense - greater than Gaara's sand and arguably the Susano'o.
Summary: The Byakugan could counter the Genjutsu easily and they have the ability to learn techniques that can deflect almost all basic and many advanced ninjutsu techniques.
Third, outside of abilities the Byakugan is simply better. You are born with it if you're a Hyuga and don't have to awaken it like the Uchiha. You can steal it and not have as much strain - also you can cover is up and use it. If you have the Byakugan, you have access to all its powers and secrets - the Uchiha have secrets that only a select few were able to decipher. The Sharingan user is usually a carrier of the Curse of Hatred or some sort of Hate or Evil. The Byakugan doesn't have the same case.
