Why some naruto fillers are canon

ok ok before you bash and hate im going to go ahead and say this.


Naruto's chikara arc is non canon. i repeat non canon.


ok for them to be CANON

i think in my own mind they must follow 6 rules

1 don't conflict with the current story
2 no bouncing around and playing with the canon archs
3 must be accurate
4 can't introduce a new ideal for naruto to suddenly learn and never use again.
5 no new jutsu which the canon characters learn and seemingly forget.
6 no alternate worlds (im looking at you NARuto: road to ninja) granted i loved the movie.

Naruto fillers that involve a very young naruto.

im talking about the one that is like 5 years old or even 7 these 90-100% canon

these in my mind are canon for 4 reasons


1 Naruto's childhood minus what we know on his birth and his pre teen is all still a mystery.

2 the showing of naruto as a child and coming of age is only prove on how his upbringing brought him to what he is.

3 Iruka and naruto's interactions and relationship is the same as the canon. in fact they are borderline father and son. in fact naruto stated in his fight with sasuke Iruka was like a father to him and sasuke his brother.

4 the above follows one of the key rules of canon fillers. they never changed a thing between iruka and naruto dispite naruto's coming age and around the time he would've never been in the acedemy as a full fledged student.

5 naruto's and hinata's convo in the anime filler is still a nothing but naruto's personality. he hated bullies and hated people praying on the weak. naruto's actions in protecting hinata from bullies proved his later personality un-altered.

6 Sasuke's image is the same before and after his parents are killed and his brother's defection.

7 Naruto's and Sasuke's begining reactions are the EXACT SAME!!!!! naruto trying surpass him and sasuke keeping naruto in the low class ranks.

8...... naruto's prankster attidute is still evidence

ok now that we are done with that.


the fillers that are of him at pre teen and early teenager these are.... 50% canon


ok

1 the mizuki filler is canon. Iruka and naruto relation ship is very present and still strong and brought a new jutsu that Iruka should know how to use. also it plays key note on his name. like almost everyone in naruto's world does.

2 the grand treasure/ 4th's legacy. this is... not canon!!!!! why because it conflicts with other people's personalities and naruto's age in the present time.

3 the time with the pervy sage .... is canon. why because this is after naruto's leaving and this si canon cause it concors with naruto's ODama rasangan. this also canon because this is his time of training so anything that does not conflict is proven canon. he even said he created a new jutsu on his travel ergo... odama and a new pervy jutsu.

4 the filler arcs.... some are canon. the ones trying to involve sasuke are. because naruto wants to find him and the bug arc and shino arcs are canon while the VIRUS arc is just not canon.


ok now for the tricky ones.

the shippuden fillers. when naruto is 16-17... maybe 18

the one that follows the hidden leafs construction where the village is getting rebuilt after the fight with pain. thats canon because it does not conflict with the timeline.

the ones in the power arc... thats non canon those were made to spoil bijuu mode and tailed beast rasangan to a extant.

others that i can not name are also not canon.

very few in the shippuden arc fillers are canon.

save the ones involving a very young naruto.

Cannon is something seen in the manga or somethng kishi himself makes and states is part of the time line.
These episodes are made by studio peirott.Just because they don't contradict the story line doesn't mean there cannon.Fillers are the exact opposite of cannon hence the name "Fillers" :sy:

So true, Op you don't understand that even if you think they are canon, they are not. Some fillers include character development and relationships, if this never happened, then it still conflicts with the main story.

I see where your coming from.Some fillers could prove interesting (Not for me though, there way too generic for my taste),but at the end of the day they will never be included in the official data books or be mentioned in the manga even as a passing reference because they are specifically not cannon.

To be honest, the word filler doesn't really mean anything. I enjoy a lot of fillers, when they're good they can be even better than the actual arcs. If you didn't know what were filler and what wasn't filler you'd enjoy all of it because to you it is all just the Naruto story. To be honest I wish i'd never known what the word filler even meant. I'd enjoy the show much more.

I personally don't think that any filler can actually be called as actually happening because it's Kishimoto's story and other people are merely expanding on it. It's Kishimoto's world and he calls the shots. That said there are moments such as the Iruka/Naruto VS Mizuki, the Curry of Life and that Naruto Hinata moment that SHOULD be canon. They don't interfere with the story at all and only add to the story. That's why I like filler. As long as it doesn't contradict anything, it's harmless and only adds to the Naruto world.

Chikara gave me a well animated scene where Kabuto summoned one of my favourite characters Deidara to fight another of my favourite characters Sai. A fight i'd dreamt of for ages. Could Kishimoto'a actual manga give me this pleasure? No it couldn't. Filler has it's perks.

This canon vs non-canon thing has been around long before naruto. In fact the biggest one is the star-wars extended fiction. People go crazy over tiers of canonical works. I'm a dbz fan so i have to deal with non canon stuff all the time. in my opinion though, manga is canon, and nothing more. In fact, i always skip filler archs

The reason that they are not canon, even with the arguments that you present, is because if Kishimoto might decide someday to write a story about 5-year-old Naruto. He has to freedom to do that, and if he does, he is not obligated to consider events that occurred in stories written by other people. He is able to completely ignore fillers, but if he were to completely ignore his own timeline then he would get in trouble. He doesn't get in trouble for ignoring fillers.
