This is a quote I made from my own post so I start by apologizing for the pretentiousness of this action. But truth is that I think the words I wrote are worth reading. Hence why I decided to create a separated thread hoping more would read these words of advise. The post will be clearer if you read the original thread, here: , as this is part of an answer to a post made by the op of said thread. But I believe the message is clear enough for everyone to understand without going through all that work.

I'd also ask for those who agree with this to post feedback and maybe other advises this will have also the role to keep the thread hot enough so that many people might read it. With this we might be able to improve the overall ability of members to keep good argumentations which would lead to a much enjoyable reading for everyone. Not to mention it could actually lead to somewhat a lower rate of "fanboys posts".

Edit: Hope the wall of text doesn't encourage the less patient to read, as those are generally the ones who need most to read the words I wrote below.

For future reference remember that whenever you find yourself writing poor arguments or without arguments at all to answer a post, refrain from posting until you have something smart to say. Don't drag your position down just because you are on a rush to answer.

You started off with a strong argument and when you faced a good "opponent" you watered down your point. He was successful to focus the discussion on a minor point that had little to nothing to do with your initial point and you slipped right into his trap.

When you start off with a good point, that you are fairly sure about, and suddenly realize that you are loosing on a battle of words, read back. Usually it means that you are falling into this problem. Trying to to enforce the weakest part of your original post (that might be wrong) will eventually lead the readers to perceive your whole point as weak. So the best strategy is to always read each post in contest and never forget your strong points and your original general idea.

I'm not writing this to ridicule you, actually I'm taking the time to write this analysis in order to teach you to better argue and be able to make your best contribute to the community. Sight, I could have just have sent this as a personal message but as I've seen so many before you falling to this scenario when faced with strong and intelligent opponents like Blaze, Totsuka, TheEye and others, I've decided to make this as a post so that others might take the same advise.

Cheers and keep thinking and posting!

Thank you, hope this will be helpful for some.

the last thing trolls need is to learn how to argue coherently , we can only identify by their amassed amounts of stupidity in posts

I took out the part of the quote that was a direct answer to the post I was responding to. Hopefully now it's more clear.

I believe many of those trolls are not trolls by option but simply because they don't know how to make proper arguments. That's why I think we could help this users to "level up" their arguments and contribution to the threads.

Posting instructions on how to make a good argument isn't gonna teach fanboys anything. You can't teach it, you learn it through observing and thinking which fanboys are incapable of.

The same case I made about trolls could be made about fanboys. I believe fanboys act the way they do because, let's face it, those are fairly easy and straight forward arguments to make, completely worthless as arguments but undeniably easy to make. And for many it's the only way they have to express an opinion that many times is a valid one, the only thing is that they don't back it up properly.
Granted that some might do it out of sport, but for many I believe it's either because they see it as an easy way to express themselves and they can also rally behind the wall created by the cluster of fanboy currents infesting this community, so they feel no need to go for anything else.
But for the vast majority I believe it comes down to another problem which is that they lack the English language skills to properly struct an argument so they run for what is easy to write. And with the answers they get they don't feel encouragement to do any different. They are either talked down upon by the more "instructed ones" or backed up with open arms by the rest of the fanboys and trolls.

For me this is an important issue as much of my English writing skills were developed by participating on online communities. However, there was a huge difference in those communities regarding the way that people treated the less profuse on writing ones. There was a spirit of helping others to develop structured thinking and arguments and each and every single post had, even if minor, a constructive critic. And that's what I rarely see here. Back there many young non english natives had the chance to further develop their english skills and thinking skills also which made all threads a lot more intertwining to read. Even the trolls made sort of objective posts and was rarely if ever that you encountered a post that had nothing new to add to the conversation.

I don't see this happening in NB which is a shame as it's a large community and has everything to become host to many great debates.

Edit: Once again I apologize for the wall of text.
