If you like watching anime movies, then you should definitely give Studio Ghibli a try, because they are some of the best anime movies out there.
I have seen seven Studio Ghibli movies and I loved all of them. I'll mention my favorite ones here and you can decide for yourself whether you want to watch them or not.
- Only Yesterday (Omoide Poro Poro): My favorite Ghibli movie. It's about a girl in her late twenties, working a corporate job in a big city. She goes to volunteer on a farm in a village, during a 10-day vacation. There are two different narratives- one is the girl looking back on her childhood, and the second is her bonding with the people on the farm. The direction is beautiful, for example, there is a scene in which both the narratives merge in a way- her fifth-grade classmates from her flashbacks are on board a bus with her present 27-year old self. If you like realism and slice-of-life, then this one's for you.
- Whisper of the Heart (Mimi o Sumaseba): This is another slice-of-life flick that I absolutely adore. Even though it's a romance, it's not cheesy at all. It's about a young girl who loves reading. However, often when she goes to the library to check out a book, it has already been checked out by someone else, and it's always the same boy. The movie is just about that boy and the girl hanging out together and thinking about their ambitions/careers.
- Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi): This is a classic Ghibli movie, directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The style is typical Miyazaki adventure-fantasy. A 10-year old girl, Chihiro, stumbles upon an abandoned amusement park. Even though her parents are accompanying her, they get turned into pigs early on in the movie (they eat something they shouldn't have). Chihiro then realizes that the park is a resort for monsters and supernatural creatures. The movie is about her interaction with all the weird creatures and her journey through that strange park, to get her parents back.

A lot of people watch Ghibli for this particular style and genre. However, I prefer the Ghibli movies with more realism. If you like the fantasy genre more then you should try other Ghibli movies like My Neighbour Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, The Secret World of Arrietty, Kiki's Delivery Service, Castle in the Sky (I haven't seen a lot of these myself). If you like slice-of-life-realism, then Whisper of the Heart, Only Yesterday, and From Up on Poppy Hill are the best from Ghibli.
