As a kunoichi she accomplished more than most of people without anything that is inherited, or given - everything she has, she obtained with her own skill, and work.
Also saved countless people.
For a female character written by Kishimoto, she's more than good, IMO, and I just can't hate her.
Advantage all other women have was that they are side characters, and anything can be forgiven, or they can be just around to be awesome, and then removed, without anyone complaining.
Sakura, Kishimoto's female, as a main girl, had to stay around the whole time, and suffer both good, and bad moments; not to mention how Kishimoto just had to fap to Naruto x Sasuke, as well as to Kakashi too.
Any female character would be in the same situation in Sakura's place, no, even if it was another boy, he would outshined by Naruto x Sasuke rivalry, and Kakashi-sensei's awesome Sharingan, and 1000 jutsu hype.
Sakura biggest problem was always that Kishimoto was always sexist could either overhype some of his characters, and make them the most awesome thing ever - Itachi, for example, or make them a total fodder, even with them being praised as geniuses - Neji, for instance.
On top of being a woman, a normal type of character like Sakura is very hard to write for people like Kishimoto, because it's not just either black, or white.
Just look at Tenten, such perfect normal type girl personality, and she was practically non-existent.
I love Sakura, and that will never change, but her not being something more - to some degree I blame fans who could have gotten in touch with Kishimoto, and suggested some ideas about her, but didn't.
After all, if I'm not mistaken, manga itself wasn't in entirety from Kishi's head.
That's why I appreciate fillers, they do more justice to characters than source material.
