Sasuke learns the truth about Itachi wants to destroy the entire village (none but 2 of them had anything to do with it) Naruto learns the truth and befriends the demon that attacked the village and forced his parents to die!

Sasuke has had a hard life, but not the hardest. He reacted terribly and betrayed the village that his brother loved so much and wants to destroy it, while killing his sensei and best friend. That is why people hate Sasuke.

to add on to that gaara lived a hard life as well...his own father tried to kill him, and his village hated him yet he still protects them and almost died for them

gaara hated everyone, and wanted to kill everyone. sasuke hated his brother and wanted to kill his brother.
