Why people keep saying Itachi failed?

Itachi's intention was to stop the Edo Tensei....and he did. I don't see why people have to be so ignorant as to say "Itachi failed". His goal wasn't to solely take down Madara but it was to stop the Edo Tensei from functioning and he did just that. It's just a manga I don't see why everyone has to get so serious about this stuff. Go outside and do something with your life.

it isnt a fail really, now that all the edo's are gone and presumably only zetsu fodder is left, the entire army of 30k-40k ninjas + naruto and bee who will pull some shit out of their ass to kill tobi vs madara and maybe tobi

His goal was to cancel "Edo Tensei". Not solo Madara. If edo tensei was not canceled, there would have been more ruckus, also, not everyone was able to seal their targets. And say, if he didn't have stopped the edo tensei, sometime later the sealed might break, or the user can break the seal with sheer force, as with madara, and troll some more with the army?

He's just failed about Sasuke's path, He's a criminal for now. He didn't plan that. His plan he'll be a hero of village kill who destroy entire Uchiha Clan, but no. Sasuke became criminal. Another thing as Oonoki said, He's a hero who stopped edo tensei and save entire shinobi world for now but Madara is still in another league. Even he can able to escape from edo tensei. It's not Itachi's mistake, it's Madara's power. To sum up, Itachi didn't fail.
