Why the lack of cannon OP games ?

Even the recent OP game, Pirate Warriors 2 if I recall correctly, has a completely filler story. I like that feature since its more unique but I would like to have the cannon story as well. By the way I'm only counting PS3/Xbox games since they are the only ones I would play. U_U

Pirate warriors has a cannon story. I've heard PW3 wil be fully cannon starting from the time skip

Do you mean canon?
AC4 could possibly pave the way for an OP game. It could be an open world sandbox type game in the vein of InFAMOUS or maybe a role-playing game. It would be cool to be able to choose a df ability or race.
