Here's my take on why Naruto changing Sasuke wouldn't have been a good idea.

1.) Sasuke is Naruto's rival. Having Naruto change Sasuke would make him the weaker out of the two by changing him
through a simply array of words.

2.) Sasuke is suppose to be Naruto's biggest challenge. Naruto has always been trying to catch up to Sasuke, but he
always failed being one step behind him.

3.) Sasuke's transition from bad to good would have been too predictable. Sasuke changed himself to the good side, which
shows me that he's grown, since the Kage Summit.

4.) The final battle would have been less intriguing if Naruto changed Sasuke completely. I do worry about their battle not
having the same level of excitement. I was really eager for a good vs evil battle between them. Still, Orochimaru can still
have a part in possessing Sasuke.

5.) Sasuke not changing through Naruto's influence shows that the main character can't succeed in convincing everyone.
This also shows how strong Sasuke is compare to the other antagonists. The only one beside Sasuke that hasn't change
is Orochimaru and Madara. I guess that's a start, but i feel that Madara might have a few regrets once he dies for good.
What this means for Naruto not being able to change Sasuke is that he has room for improvement on how he handles
situations. He can be shown for having his own weaknesses as a character, which shows that the path to a Hokage is
still a long one, because he needs to have the experience and maturity of a Hokage.

Actually...
In Naruto's mindset, he needs to catch up to Sasuke.
...but in reality, Sasuke struggles to accept the fact that Naruto has grown stronger.

I agree with your statement. Which is why their rivalry is so intense between the both of them

You make some good points.

I always saw it like this

Naruto being the one to 'save' Sasuke would of been too predictable. I don't care if it's 'foreshadowed' it's still cliche as ****. It works out better that Itachi, the person that ****ed him up, was the one that saved him. (With Hashi's help of course, but mainly Itachi)

Yeah, Naruto already changed many hearts. He doesn't need to change Sasuke to prove anything.

This is a good thread, an excellent explanation as to why it was not Naruto who changed him. Especially the final point, I feel thats something that should be established because otherwise it makes the main character seem too perfect by being able to change everyone evil.
