The cycle of hatred has danzo also, his hatred to the third, the akatsuki who was led by nagato who wants a real peace was hit by danzo’s hatred that eventually begun to take a form of revenge, danzo’s hatred to the third also hitted shisui, and itachi, that eventually turn sasuke to hate itachi and it became revenge because he killed his own clan… even the tailed beast hates the humans aswell humans hated the tailed beast that eventually the jinchuriki’s had it too. But because of what naruto showed during his previous battles, his courage, determination, and he didnt change and he keeps beilieving the people started to think that the imposible is possible its the peace. This is what konan and nagato saw to naruto.

SO NARUTO ENDED THIS CYCLE OF HATRED. AND IN HIS ERA IN HIS ERA OF PEACE… EVENTUALLY TURNED THE NINJA WORLD TO START AGAIN FROM THE BEGINNING, THIS IS WHAT HASHIRAMA WAS DREAMING FOR, WHAT MADARA AND THE PREVIOUS KAGES SAW A NEW BEGINING. IN NARUTO’S ERA PEOPLE ARE WELCOME THEY CAN GO TO OTHER VILLAGES, WHO WOULDVE KNOWN THAT A KONOHA AND A SOUND SHINOBI WAS BESTFRIEND? And THE ANBU FROM OTHER VILLAGERS DOESNT HAVE TO DO SOME CRAZY STUFF LIKE THEY USE TO YOU KNOW HOW DIFFICULT ITACHI’s life had been A SIMILAR THING HAPPEN TO KISAME. In Naruto’s era THE NINJA WORLD WAS FREE. I MEAN IT HAS TO START TO SOMETHING AND NARUTO DID THAT AND EVEN NOW HE BILIEVES IN PEACE THAT EVENTUALLY SARADA AND BORUTO WILL PICK OFF IF HE SOMEHOW DIES. I think sarada is little by little understands this. And sarada will surpass naruto and she will eventually fullfill this dream.

To be honest the third let danzo preety much do everything, what im trying to say here the peace that your talking about the cycle of hatred was still there. That could be true but danzo he already decided to eliminate the uchiha clan either without itachi or not. Its safe to say that he was planning to use shisui’s eyes to do that.

Is it fair to equate achievement to character value?

Opportunity and 'fate' have a large influence in the former. Naruto growing up as he did and having the teachers he did had an exceptionally large influence to his story.

Not at all he grew up from pain remember he was a jinchuriki. And most of them tried not to interfere on his childhood.
kakashi showed him friendship not to abandoned their fellow ninja/friends morethan their mission but most of it he grew up on from others pain and the pain that he felt, Their story and his story molded him to one day change all of that to not let that happen again to anyone else. Thats the reason he is the greatest hokage. Because hashirama failed to do it, the second didnt do it in the end most of the things he did created more hatred that the next generation affect them, the third did some but failed by letting danzo do everythinf the third created hatred without knowing it, the 4th died early, and tsunade entrusted it to naruto because she knew. What I'm trying to say is that while Naruto does have massive quality ("ninja messiah") and achievements (beating the SPoP alone is worthy), it may not be fair to equate those to the quality of being Hokage.

If you take away Kurama (Minato), Sage Mode (Jiraiya) and his massive energy (clan powers), how much of his achievements and development would have been possible? Is t fair, then, to rank his reign based on factors that were almost completely reliant on outsiders?
