Reason One: It's unexpected
Jiraiya dying was a huge shock to fans. People speculated on NB that he was still alive for over a year and a half. Like all the other times I posted on my old account, what happened? He stayed dead. Naruto's death will shake the foundation of the Narutoverse, save Sasuke and defeat the 10 tails. Naruto living and becoming Hokage as a child is simply unrealistic. Kishi is showing us what war is.
Reason Two: It saves Sasuke
We've known forever Kishi's favorite character is Sasuke. His death isn't really likely. While he will lose to Naruto in the fight, it might very well end with Naruto pulling out RDS to extract Sasuke's evil chakra. Sasuke must be redeemed, this is the easiest way.
Reason Three: The prophecy doesn't mention that he lives or dies
Notice the prophecy doesn't say he becomes Hokage? This is a huge reveal. It only mentions that he fights a kid with strange eyes after saving the world. This is important, as it implies he dies fighting Sasuke.
Reason Four: It's being foreshadowed
Kishi likely decided to kill Naruto during Five Kage summit arc. Naruto himself foreshadowed his own death by saying he's willing to die to save Sasuke.
Reason Five: It's heroic to die
The most impact Naruto can have is in death. Being the hero who saved the world through sacrificing his own life. It's too non-impacting to declare him Hokage and end the manga. It's what people expect.
Reason Six: It's poetic
If his death mirrors his father's death, he's all the more a hero. He became Hokage and then died, just like his father. Following Kishimoto's words, it's not like anyone has plot armor at the end of a story.
Reason Seven: It's a troll ending
Kishi likes to troll us sometimes by throwing curveballs. Anyone foreshadow Neji's death? Itachi being good? Jiraiya losing to pain? Yeah, thats what I thought. So far it's NB batting 0 for 3.
Reason Eight: It's a Japanese manga
American fans can never accept manga endings from Japan. When GANTZ anime ended, I remember how pissed people were. When Spike died, I remember the shock on people's faces. When Lelouch died at the end of Code Geass, people were shocked. Yu Yu Hakusho, main characters dead. Death Note, main character dies. Evangelion, everyone dies. Huge troll ending. Hellsing. Sailor Moon. I could go on, but it's not needed.
The facts are on my side, NB. I rest my case. Naruto will die. You mad, fanboys?
