I think it's because Naruto sent Kurama outside of his body to fight that statue, so he didn't have access to Kurama's chakra, only the portion he separated from Kurama for KCM. How the heck he did that is a mystery. Maybe Yin Kurama's the one who's asleep inside Naruto and the yang one can be sent outside... That would be awesome if he had two Kurama's instead of the yin and yang merging again. That way, Kurama can be let out every now and then.
